I hate to say this, for I know I'm wrong...but I have a problem of feeling ashamed when I say I'm a Charasmactic, to Baptists. I don't know why.

Maybe it comes from the scorn, and arguments I've had to deal with, concerning the Charismatic Church.

I've constantly been under pressure, so when a Baptist boy asked me what version I used, I cringed...for I knew what was coming.

They (the boy's family) are KJV ONLY proclaimers.

Only once, a girl (well young woman) who was this boy's sister, did not have a go at me.

Whether she didn't want to spoil such a nice time by arguing, I don't know, but I was relieved.

But I cringe when asked what version I use, what Church I attend.........and the rest.

I dread the day when a Baptist asks me if I wear a hat to church......

I can't bear another lambasting.

I know, I know.

This sounds so silly.

I feel bad, when I feel ashamed of the Church I'm at.

But....can anyone relate?

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I don't care who you are, you should never feel ashamed or worried about your church or your beleifs or what version of the Bible you are reading. I know alot about you Yomo and where your heart stands, you have nothing to feel ashamed about. I am sorry you are feeling this way.

I don't know you as well as I would hope Yomo. Nor anyone on these boards. But there is time.:noidea: I do however, agree 100% with Constant. I get flack from time to time about the fact that I read the New Living Translation, for the most part.

You have no reason to be ashamed. If you believe that Christ died for your sins and the He is the only way to the Father, you have nothing to be ashamed of. :noidea:

There is nothing in the King James that addresses the wearing of hats to church. So put that right out of your head. Where head coverings are concerned, a womans long hair was given to her as a covering. The length of ones hair is not an issue in the church of God.

Don't worry about what other people think of you. If you believe Christ crucified, they have no argument against you.

That feeling of shame is only the devil whispering in your ear " you are not worthy ". You have the power to repell those attacks. Use it. :taped:

I don't know....you can't please everyone, so why not please the One that counts.

Just something to ponder.

What's wrong with the NLT ? :b: That's about all I read too mate :emot-hug:

And I'm a Baptist AND I'm Charismatic :taped: Guess I'm really in trouble then :noidea:

Don't worry Yomo  Your relationship with God is all that matters to Him- not what "denomination" you are or what version you read. Keep your head up and be proud to call yourself a Christian

God bless,

Tim

Ahem...they are good friends.

Actually, it's fine, if i don't mention the KJV.

Usually, we're fine.

And I get on VERY well with their family.

Once one of them said I was his best friend....

You see, it's only about Church and Bible talking.....

Otherwise I'm absolutely good friends.

It is all too common, Yomo.

When another Christian finds out that you're a Christian, the inevitable question that follows is "where do you go to church?" or something like that.

I'm proud of where I fellowship and do not hesitate to share it with others. This is because I am fully confident in the integrity and biblical-basedness of my fellowship.

If you are "ashamed" of "your denomination" you need to ask yourself this:

1) Is it simply due to the peer pressure of someone else?

2) Is it because you don't agree with much of what your denomination does?

If it is due to peer pressure, then take note of what Paul said in his epistle to the Galatians:

Gal 1:10 For now do I persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Being a servant of God means that we are not to be men-pleasers. Even in the church it is possible to fall into the "men-pleaser trap."

If it is due to disagreements with the denomination then I would suggest you evaluate your presence within that denomination and seek God as to where He would have you.

In Christ...
