I must admit I have pornography issues.

I try to stop, but then I just move into some very bad dating sites, creepy games and then back to pornography. Even this morning I was happy how I overcome early urge into it, but around mid-day second wave somehow completely overwhelmed me. I saw just some google images results leading to lees then 5 minutes video, but now on evening I feel regret, loss of energy, and how I can not manage myself. Besides video was quite creepy and I feel regret how I could not use something more common at least.

Even as teenager I enjoyed it without realizing how addictive it can be.

All advises are welcome.

Are you a Christian? If you are give this to God 100%. You can not do it on your own.

Here are three steps for you from 2 Timothy 2:22.   You can remember this verse from all those 2's.  This is from Paul to young Timothy, the new preacher.

"Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

Broken down into three steps:

  • First, "flee the evil desires of youth...".  Run away from this.  Find another distraction:  reading, exercising, working on cars, helping others, hanging out with others, focusing on your job, your family, your gifts and talents, more......there's countless ways to put your heart and mind way from this.

  • Second, "....and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace....".  The first will be very hard and may not work unless you do the second.  Running away from sin won't help unless you are running TO something, hence, the word, "pursue".  Run TO God.  Run TO Christ - read the Bible, listen  to hymns and Christian music, read self-helps about pornography from a Christians point of view, pray, pray, pray.  Just tell God you are sick of the porn and that you need his help.  He wants to help you SO BADLY.  He loves you and hates this hold that porn has on you.  He hates it worse than you do.  That's because he loves you so much.

  • Third, ".....along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."  This is a key.  Find OTHERS who love the Lord who may have beaten this or know of others who have beaten this.  Seek out other Christians who are seeking after God to live for him and make those your friends, confidants, and brothers.

If you were to read Romans Chapter 7 you would walk away with no hope of ever overcoming the flesh. Romans Chapter 7 does not address pornography, but it deals with human effort to keep God's Laws. The Chapter end with a twofold conclusion;

  1. There is a law operating in your flesh that will ALWAYS drag you down
  2. No good thing dwells in your flesh

If you don't read Romans Chapter 8, you will walk away from trying to do God's will with no hope. Thai is again confirmed in Galatians 5:17. So I am going to point out the main point of Romans Chapter 8. The thing that can OVERCOME the "Law of sin and death" is the "Law of Life in Christ Jesus"!

What most Christians do is replace the Law of Moses with their own laws - like; "do not smoke", "not too much jewelry if I am a sister", and "give up my hobby because it might become an idol". But our Lord Jesus did not order this at all. What our Lord Jesus did was come onto earth as a Man, live through every experience of man, go to His death for the sins of men and rose up from the dead. In His case, every experience was positive and without sin. It was the pure will of God. So while you and I gather polluted experiences during our life time and then die with them, our Lord Jesus gathered divinely inspired and motivated experiences that were 100% the will of God. Then, when His human experience was complete, because He is the Eternal One, these experiences because part of Him for ever. And any man or woman who believes in, and calls upon Jesus as Son of God and Savior, RECEIVES CHRIST TOGETHER WITH THIS FULL PACKAGE OF HIS PERFECT HUMAN LIFE.

That is, in your human spirit dwells the ALL-mighty with the full and perfect human life. The Christian possesses, IN CHRIST, the full package of power, motivation and directions to live a life like Christ did. But there is a hitch. The "Law of sin and death" is ever present. It is like gravity. The Law of gravity ALWAYS WORKS. It never takes a single minute's rest. But there is a way around the Law of gravity - the Laws of aerodynamics. The Laws involved in an airplane overcoming gravity also always work, but the pilot must CONTINUALLY apply them. the second that the pilot dos not apply the Laws of aerodynamics, he goes DOWN. This is like your Christian life.

You start off a baby Christian and have nearly no theory or practice. Galatians 5:17 says that you always fail. Then you start to mature and you start to practice Romans 8 more and more. You have some victories but then you get complacent and forget Christ. You crash. But you get up, get forgiveness and stay watchful. A temptation comes and you are ready for it. You are in contact with Jesus Who dwell in you. You knows the Laws that you will be applying. Christ is your only resource. Forget Him and you crash again. And finally, after 25 years of being a Christian you have learned the hard way. Stay connected to Christ or you will crash.

Sexual desire was created by God to be a pleasure and to "replenish the earth". It will not go away. Don't try to fight it. You will lose every time. the answer is Christ. He has the LIFE of a Man Who overcame temptation in this area. He has the resources embodied in His LIFE. And at rebirth you get this LIFE. Contact Him. Call upon Him? Focus upon Him - and you will win.

Thank you missmuffet. I was raised in the catholic church and was sent to catholic schools. We worshiped, prayed to and bowed down to statues of Mary and many dead saints. I never saw a Bible in any ones hands until I left the catholic church and purchased one of my own. As an alter boy I asked the priest what the latin words meant that we were saying during mass. His reply was, "Never mind what they mean, just chime in where you have to." I virtually knew nothing about Jesus and His plan for mankind until I left the catholic church.

I have worked with many who have told me horrible stories of their experiences with the Catholic Church. They now have given up any faith or religion. Sad. But I worked with a lady who had a genuine belief in Jesus Christ who was Catholic.

You know, I always believe in God even as a child before going to school or even church. I also have many catholic friends who are good people and believe in God. Jesus loves them as much as He loves us, He died for us all.
