Has anyone noticed that Rita is acting just like Katrina did. Just a tropical storm, barely hits hurricane strength just as it clips Florida......What will it do when it reaches the Gulf?

Keeping an eye on this one.

Rita was just upgraded to a category 1 hurricane. By the forecasters account this was not supposed to happen for another day. Rita is getting stronger faster than they predicted. According to the models it was only supposed to reach a category 2 when it strikes land, most likely in Texas. But once again the hurricane seems to have its own agenda, and it is not what the forecasters are predicting.

I wonder if it will stall over the gulf and build up it's strength before hitting land?

Rita is now a category 2 hurricane. This thing is blowing up quick.

This hurricane weather has been really creepy lately. But I guess it's a sign of the times. I will keep the gulf coast in my prayers.

The waters of the gulf are warmer than usual which feeds the power of the hurricanes that cross the gulf. They also seem to be drawn to the warmer waters from what I have read in the past.

The gulf stream which carries warmer water north has slowed down, if this is part of the problem, we are in real trouble for the forseeable future, for the gulf will be hot for a very long time.

No telling what this could do to the weather patterns.

But it is time for all this to start..... unless of course the Russians were not just boasting about being able to create and direct these storms, but that would bring up things that not even I really want to get into......

I heard someone say today that God is taking another shot at the evacuee's by sending Rita towards Texas where a majority of the people went to.
