Do you have time to thank God today?

There is a correlation between joy, gratitude, and the giving of thanks, especially when it is God being thanked.

I've been carefully considering the many verses that reference thanking God in the Epistle's of Paul.

These are from the Berean Study Bible:

  • Thank

(Rom 1:8)  First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed all over the world.

(1Co 1:4)  I always thank my God for you because of the grace He has given you in Christ Jesus.

(1Co 1:14)  I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

(1Co 14:18)  I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

(Php 1:3)  I thank my God every time I remember you.

(Col 1:3)  We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

(1Th 1:2)  We always thank God for all of you, remembering you in our prayers

(1Th 2:13)  And we continually thank God because, when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as the true word of God—the word which is now at work in you who believe.

(1Th 3:9)  How can we adequately thank God for you in return for our great joy over you in His presence?

(2Th 1:3)  We are obligated to thank God for you all the time, brothers, as is fitting, because your faith is growing more and more, and your love for one another is increasing.

(2Th 2:13)  But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.

(1Ti 1:12)  I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, that He considered me faithful and appointed me to service.

(2Ti 1:3)  I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as did my forefathers, as I constantly remember you night and day in my prayers.

(Phm 1:4)  I always thank my God, remembering you in my prayers,

  • Thanks

(Rom 1:21)  For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts.

(Rom 6:17)  But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed.

(Rom 7:25)  Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I serve the law of God, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

(Rom 14:6)  He who observes a special day does so to the Lord; he who eats does so to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

(1Co 10:30)  If I partake in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?

(1Co 11:24)  and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

(1Co 14:17)  You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other one is not edified.

(1Co 15:57)  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

(2Co 1:11)  as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the favor shown us in answer to their prayers.

(2Co 2:14)  But thanks be to God, who always leads us triumphantly as captives in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.

(2Co 8:16)  But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same devotion I have for you.

(2Co 9:15)  Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

(Eph 1:16)  I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,

(Eph 5:20)  always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(Col 1:12)  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.

(Col 3:17)  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

(1Th 5:18)  Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

  • Thankful

(Col 3:15)  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.

(Col 4:2)  Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful,

  • Thanksgiving

(1Co 14:16)  Otherwise, if you speak a blessing in spirit, how can someone who is uninstructed say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?

(2Co 4:15)  All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is extending to more and more people may overflow in thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

(2Co 9:11)  You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion, so that through us your giving will produce thanksgiving to God.

(2Co 9:12)  For this ministry of service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanksgiving to God.

(Eph 5:4)  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving.

(Php 4:6)  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

(1Ti 2:1)  First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone

(1Ti 4:3)  They will prohibit marriage and require abstinence from certain foods that God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

(1Ti 4:4)  For every creation of God is good, and nothing that is received with thanksgiving should be rejected,

THANK GOD FOR HIS EKKLESIA

I'm with you, sister. I find it curious when others ask questions like the OP does. I am with the Lord, and He is with me, night and day. Whatever I do each and every day, I do for Him and through Him.

The Lord sends me where He wishes me to go and when I arrive, He provides for all of my needs: productive work which fulfills His commandments... a place to rest my head... food for the stomach... and so I want for nothing. I speak to Him all day long, even here in the heart of darkness. The heart of darkness is where He sent me to labor for His kingdom without end, and it's my joy to praise His name in the face of evil.

Is this a burden for others? There's no other way for us. His yoke is easy and burden, light. :)

@Rosie1jack2pauline3 & @Marathoner That's two Yesses.

Another aspect of thankfulness I'm waxing rhetorical on now is to do with the Greek word "eucharisteō" and its association with the Lord's Supper. Scripture tells us Jesus gave thanks (eucharisteō)  for the bread which symbolises His body,  and for the cup filled with drink that symbolises His blood.

As we all should know, Paul advised the Corinthians that being thankful for Christ's body, broken for us, and for His blood, shed for us for the forgiveness of sins, is not just something ritualistic to be regarded as trite and banal, but a deeply meaningful celebration worthy of reverence.  ( 1 Corinthians 11:27)

Mat 26:26-29  While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.”  (27)  Then He took the cup, gave thanks (eucharisteō), and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.  (28)  This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.  (29)  I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

G2168
εὐχαριστέω
eucharisteō
yoo-khar-is-teh'-o
From G2170; to be grateful, that is, (actually) to express gratitude (towards); specifically to say grace at a meal: - (give) thank (-ful, -s).
Total KJV occurrences: 39

1Co 11:23-26  For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread,  (24)  and when He had given thanks (eucharisteō), He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”  (25)  In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”  (26)  For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

THANK YOU LORD JESUS CHRIST FOR YOUR BROKEN BODY AND SHED BLOOD.

This is good to think about. We surely can be forgetful to be thankful to God. He deserves to be thank all the time. I thank God everytime I eat a meal. But in doing so it becomes a ritual. I know God likes our thanks and love from a good sincere heart.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
