The literary use of metaphor and similes-in the Bible-are very common. This prophesy, at Genesis 3:15, is a very complicated scripture to discuss in this manner. It was, however, not fulfilled until thousands of years had passed. God was talking to Satan. The “woman” is referring to the birth of God’s new heavenly arrangement (spiritual Jerusalem) with Jesus appointed as king.-Galatians 4:26; Revelation11:15; 12:1-6. This is a prophesy ( the 1st one ) about Christ and how defeat of Satan. I don't think the woman was intended to be identified, but she is either the church or Mary. Well, Eve, The mother of all the living, I wonder if maybe this isnt the difference between Lukes Genealogy, and Matthews genealogy. Eves seed is also the son of Man, the second Adam?

The church did not produce Jesus. The woman is Eve, mother of all living. Gen. 3:20 She would represent all humanity from which God would bring forth Jesus at his birth.

The Lord put Adam to sleep - Christ was put "to sleep." From Adam's side, He then took a rib and "builded" (Hebrew) a woman. (Gen 2:22) Thus she became "bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh" as Adam said. Christ is "the last Adam." The same is said of the church to Christ as Eve was to Adam: Ephesians 5:30 says,"For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones." Jesus said, "I will build My church." Matt 16:18 In Genesis 3:15 the woman could be about both Eve and the church. And if you believe that the man-child in Revelation 12 is Christ in His believers, then this one bruises Satan's head. ("and they overcame him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb") This certain is "a GREAT mystery, but I speak of Christ and the church." (Eph 5:32)
