They say he's still alive? Have they read the news?

They don't claim he is alive, they insinuate it. They don't verify or announce his death either.

I wonder if the Mod can spit this topic out?

Well.. it seems he is alive and well on the website... I guess some people can't accept that their master is dead...

He was the guy who said 'Real salvation costs money,' and something to the effect 'if you don't tithe you will slide to hell' right?

Is this the guy you are talking about. http://www.drgenescott.com/home.htm

I came accross him about 4 months ago. I basically put him him in the same catagory as (Benny Hinn, Billy Graham, Robert Schuller, Creflo Dollar and Kennith Copeland). That catagory is, if they come on I change the channel.

Thanks bud...

Onward!

So yes, to Pipit - This guy believes and states that real salvation costs money. He seemed to have lost some wait in his last years.

Comments by, or about, Gene Scott:

"And I have these attorneys who wanna reach me and they didn't wanna go through the channels, and they wanna call. The oldest trick in the world is call and leave a message, 'Call me back.' I don't call anybody back! There ain't nobody in this world that ever gets a call back from me! You don't call me and leave your God**** number and put the onus on me to run you down when you want to talk to me! You want to talk to me, you sit your little old fanny on a chair and you keep dialing till somebody on my staff tells you I got the message or tells you to go to hell!"

(Dr. Gene Scott, Audio clip "Bible Answer Man Show" Hank Hanegraaff, October 11, 2004)

"Unlike other televangelists, Scott's sermons did not condemn homosexuality, abortion or other hot-topic sexual issues. He argued they were a personal choice. Scott's own lifestyle included a chauffeured limousine. He also claimed to own 300 horses." (Associated Press February 22, 2005)

"But he also spoke on current events, sometimes lacing his sermons with profanity." (The Associated Press, February 22, 2005)

"During the last few years, Scott has become more and more outrageous and offensive, His language is crude, abusive and profane, clearly violating God's standards for Christians." (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

"Nuke 'em in the name of Jesus!" Scott ranted during the Gulf War, boasting that he was the only minister urging President Bush to bomb Iraq. (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

"At times Scott would stare into a live television camera until a fund-raising goal was met. "Get on the telephone!" He ordered his viewers. For those who didn't send money, Scott suggested: "Vomit on yourself with your head up in the air." ("Flamboyant TV pastor Gene Scott dies at 75," Houston Chronicle, February 24, 2005)

"Over the years, Scott became a collector of rare Bibles and often lived extravagantly, with a Pasadena mansion, chauffeured limousines, a private jet and horse ranches." ("Flamboyant TV pastor Gene Scott dies at 75," Houston Chronicle, February 24, 2005)

"Probably teach Hugh Hefner a thing or two" about sex and told those who refused to send money to "vomit on yourself with your head up in the air." (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

"There are so many horses' asses on television that I wanted to show the world what a whole horse looked like." (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

For non-givers, Scott warns: "If you get too smart with God, He might let you live this next year without Him so you can see the difference." (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

Among the tunes Scott occasionally orders up is "Kill a Pissant for Jesus." (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

"They never stop!" Scott protested to loud applause. "These judgmental a**es!" (Glenn F. Bunting; staff writer for The Times, "Shock Jock of Televangelism'" The Los Angeles Times 7/10/94.)

I think these are prime examples of why so many can't find faith.

Michigan, Texas, Nashville, West Virginia and California all have stations that claim to

still run his shows.

Texas here. Yes, he is still on air. But then again, we have the town of Vidor so what do you expect? (For those that don't know, Vidor is a town that is all white and when someone of non-white race tries to move in, the KKK show up to run them out. I think I heard that some hispanics managed to move to Vidor, but I know that some then moved out after harassment.)

Well Copeland, Hinn, Schuller, and Dollar I can see, but Billy Graham doesn't belong there in the same breath. Remember that thing on Sesame Street "One of these thing is different than the other things. One of these things does not belong"?

Instead of telling you why I put Billy Graham on that list, I will show you by his quotes on various subjects, and then you can make up your own minds on whether you want to continue to trust him. I have made up my own mind on him, on things that I have read about him and things that I have heard come from his own mouth. Everyone is, of course entitled to their opinion and mine is when Billy Graham comes on, I switch him off.

ON SALVATION

"I used to think that pagans in far-off countries were lost -- were going to hell -- if they did not have the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached to them. I no longer believe that. ... I believe there are other ways of recognizing the existence of God -- through nature, for instance -- and plenty of other opportunities, therefore, of saying yes to God."

ON BAPTISM

"I do believe that something happens at the baptism of an infant... we cannot fully understand the mysteries of God, but I believe that a miracle can happen in these children so that they are regenerated, that is, made Christian, through infant baptism."

ON HELL

"The only thing I could say for sure is that hell means separation from God. We are separated from His light, from His fellowship. That is going to hell. When it comes to a literal fire, I don't preach it because I'm not sure about it. When the Scripture uses fire concerning hell, that is possibly an illustration of how terrible it's going to be -- not fire but something worse, a thirst for God that cannot be quenched."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
