Ambassadors

The idea of reconciliation is often neglected in doctrine. Being reconciled to a God who knows us perfectly and

we never knew makes clear that being made whole is all from God who is All. To receive from His Fullness. 

Reconciliation puts the saints immediately to work, and grants them the title of "ambassador for Christ".

2 Corinthians 5:1-20 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are  ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God!

This is so awesome!  The Corinthians became ambassadors for Christ when they heard the GOOD NEWS through Paul.  Christians become an ambassador for Christ when we come to an understanding of the wonderful GOSPEL—the Word of God.  What an incredible honor that is!  When, in Christ, we become a new creature, God creates a new ambassador for Himself!

This leads to believe that Paul was primarily speaking of himself and the other apostles,

as well as the elders that they had ordained.

He later lists qualifications for overseers and deacons in 1 Timothy.

That being said, all who have been reconciled should strive to be found faithful,

qualified to fill the role of elder.
