I will still say that as long as people truly believe it is okay in the hearts then they should be fine. My heart just says no.

One indication a person may be going against their heart is seeking many oks from others. When people know something is okay they don’t usually ask others first.

Its going to be the individuals heart that matters and getting 1000 it is okays is no good if your own heart says no.

@Hopefully Oh I agree that the believer considering a Bible verse tattoo before the Lord still needs to have a sense of confidence before Him in the light of careful and contextual reading of Scripture.

@Tristen above was talking about a situation where the person thinks it is the Lord's will to go ahead but has fears and trepidations that may threaten to overcome the actual act of having it done (see posts, above).

it won’t be surface reasoning that we can see it will be what is truly in your heart.

@Hopefully I think of a Christian young woman that my wife and I talked to; with the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area, it was with a memorable, calm joy that she seemed to radiate that her favorite Bible verse was the cause of her having become - at around 18, in all probability - an inked up woman.

The quiet yet determined conviction that she seemed to show was rather memorable - along the lines of what you say, in the quote, above.

In spite of you different thoughts now, you would likely have been impressed similarly as I was.

“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭19‬:‭28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“You must not cut your body as a way to remember the dead. You must not make any tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭19‬:‭28‬ ‭ERV

I don’t read this as only for the dead. That’s the issue I have. I see do not print ANY marks on you, and do not make ANY tattoo marks on yourself.

The word “Any” is there.

I don’t see how the same God who said this can also lead people to get tattoos.

Fine, @Hopefully , if you indeed read it that way; others might indeed see the overall context as pagan necromancy. Remembering also Elijah and the prophets of Baal who cut themselves until the blood gushed out; 1 Kings 18.

There are other things in the chapter also - such as trimming the corner of one's beard - which would seem to belong to the general context of Old Testament Jews in the land under the law (and Romans 7 also says the law was changed, so we are not in that sense 'under the law', as Old Testament Jews were.) But you are right that it needs to be an individual conviction and I think ppl should stick to their individual convictions, one way or the other.

@farouk I see this the same as people who say when God says man shall not lay with man as with woman that it’s not talking about being gay.

There are many people who do not see that the Bible says homosexuality is wrong no matter how many times it’s there, so one statement of tattoos should be enough, because if there were 5 verses more people would still say it’s okay.

Certainly, God gives us everything we need to accomplish the tasks He set before us.

But that doesn't mean we won't find a way to talk ourselves out of it.

@Tristen Interestingly, I read about a Christian father whose daughter wanted to become a tattoo artist and his inhibitions or whatever they were led him to dissuade her; although he subsequently saw things from a rather different viewpoint and came to regret having dissuaded his daughter:

My daughter wanted to .. be a tattoo artist several years ago and (I) sadly discouraged her. I’ve considered speaking with her about this, I believe person can hold a ministry in any occupation, if I do it to the glory of God christinaityboard dot com

Romans 7 also says the law was changed, so we are not in that sense 'under the law', as Old Testament Jews were.

“I mean we are made right with God through faith, not through what we have done to follow the law. This is what we believe. So do we destroy the law by following the way of faith? Not at all! In fact, faith causes us to be what the law actually wants.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭28‬, ‭31‬ ‭

What do you think about this verse?

I feel like my faith is still growing so I will continue to become what the law wants.

Given what we have been told in the Bible about the fate of the total human population, I feel good if 10 million people disagree with me. It seems more of a narrow path that way.

I truly take issues to God and believe what the spirit tells me. Why would I listen to the broad path?

No matter how many people say God is okay with tattoos I don’t believe he is. Do I believe the tattoo alone decides salvation? No I don’t but it’s not going to be good all around if people seek advice from the masses.

God is alive and he can hear us. We can hear him to.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
