And never set your own beliefs in stone, there are always others who know more than you that you can learn from.

Fortunately, my beliefs don’t come from what I know or can learn from someone else. Yes, for 35 years I’d amassed more doctrinal fodder than I can shake a stick at, but knowing all this, the one thing I don’t know is “why” people focus on what is not specifically focused on in scripture.
Why do some say God is three persons, and on others say He is One? If He is three separate persons, how is it possible that He is One?

Hello Philologos, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism.

Love, Walter and Debbie

You are the first who responded with the “One” perspective… why not a statement about the trinity? Honest curiosity on what thought you had when choosing to write what you wrote and not write about any aspect of the individuals… if you don’t mind…😇

It is said that man has three natures, Id, Ego, and Super Ego or unconscious, subconscious and conscious along with other lesser known variations of the theme.

Three natures yet one being.

And we are created in God's image.

No, I was the first one to tell you that there is only one God.  See post #2.

I see. But, can each of our three natures function independent of the others as in the trinity?

Oh, thank you for bringing that to my attention… I didn’t receive a notification of that and another, it seems, and I didn’t scroll through everything to check.

Hi Philologos, I don't know if I were the first, but what I meant is that Jesus is the only one that I know that is the One Lord, in our opinion, not of the Trinity, because of its doctrine.

I think it is important to consider that God is God and has many abilities that Man does not.  Those things that Man cannot directly understand, because it is beyond his ability to understand, must be told in a manner that he can understand them within his ability to understand.

This is one of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God, things that we cannot know because we were not designed to know them.

That's the understanding I have developed for myself during my life, other may have different understandings, each according to our own experience of life and personal development during it.  I doubt if any of us are wrong, it's that blind men and the elephant thing with no one being able to feel the whole of it and trying to develop an idea of its nature by the part of it he can feel.

I see God as one God as the Shema says in Deut. 6.  There is one God - not three.   If a person doesn't believe that, then one believes in three gods

I believe in One God comprised by Three Persons

Are you saying that the perspective of 3 being one is wrong, but seeing the 1 as 3 is correct?

Wouldn’t we just be arguing the semantics and not really knowing any significant difference between the two?

(maybe I misunderstood what you are actually thinking, sorry)

As ‘three separate beings,’ how do you respond to those who say, or point out scripture, that “God is One,” and that if each is a separate being, and each is God, then you are essentially saying that you believe in three Gods, polytheism.
How would you guide someone from that point of objection, to help them understand?

Did you read what I wrote past your question.

Jesus told us to be one with him as he is one with the Father....   So does that mean I am God too?

And that's a subject for serious debate depending on one's definition of that word.
