There was a beautiful young college girl who caught the eye of a handsome young medical student, and he instantly fell madly in love with her. Day by day as he watched her from afar, his love grew more and more, but she was so beautiful that he just couldn't see how she'd ever be interested in him. Finally, he plucked up the courage to tell her of his feelings for her.

As she was leaving campus one afternoon, he approached her with flowers and a small gift box and introduced himself. She was very surprised and confessed that he, too, had caught her eye. He told her how beautiful and intelligent and impressive he thought she was and asked to take her out on a date...and that maybe they could develop a relationship and perhaps, after a while, become engaged and eventually get married --- but if she refused, he would steal her away and put her in a torture chamber and keep her there for as long as she lives, forever, if possible.

Is that what Scripture teaches about our Lord? Would He Who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to save us do that? What Christians think about this issue is a direct reflection on what they think about God's character, whether we like it or not, and thus, warrants a critical examination of how God intends to deal with impenitent sinners in the end. The answer is actually good news!

Why do people always want to blame God for what they do to themselves?

No, that is not what scripture teaches about my Lord.

My Lord sees not a beautiful creature but a sin filled one, one that violates in thought at least every command of His Father. Yet  He willing has taken upon Himself that sin, all of it, and has paid the price of all that sin,- my sin.

His blood soaked into earth has washed me clean, white as snow to be seen as perfect and acceptable to His Father. My Lord Yeshua ( Jesus) has conquered death itself, that I personally may have eternal life with Him. Such love has He for His creation.

So, do you think the answer is that those who do not choose Him will not be destroyed?

That is a good point, that the ones Jesus calls to are not extravagently wonderful and intelligent people. But people in sin are Satanic, and hell is for Satan who is not beautiful, at all. And if people continue to be Satanic, yes hell is for them. They will be in their element.

So, the image of a beautiful girl being tortured for refusing a man is a very false representation of what will become of ones so conceited and anti-love that they feel they are too good for Jesus who is God's own Son.

Such people are so anti-Christ, by character, that they won't be able to stand being in the presence of Jesus in Heaven. And so, they will have to be somewhere else.

But Jesus calls to such enemies. Because God is able to change them into beautiful people of His love, "and you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:29)

Hi, VA, since the Soul comes into existence as a consequence of the union of the Body and the Breath of Life (Genesis 2:7 KJV), at the moment of disunion when the Body returns to Earth and the Spirit returns to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV), the Soul "ceases to exist" aka "dies".

SO, TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION:

The brightness of Jesus' coming kills all living wicked (2 Thessalonians 2:8 KJV) who drop dead everywhere (Jeremiah 25:30-33 KJV) and join the dead wicked of all ages and remain dead 1,000 years until the ROTD when they rise to a "second life" where they are convinced of their guilt, drop down and confess Jesus is Lord, and then are cast into the LOF where they die the Second Death...which is eternal death...everlasting death...a death from which there will be no resurrection.

That's why John wrote that in Revelation 21:4 KJV.

Just before the wicked are annihilated, all will drop down and confess Jesus is Lord - an admission of their own guilt.

Actually, it's an accurate representation of what's taught throughout the Christian world - just not of what's taught in Scripture.

You could be speaking of the Christianity that you are aware of. Here is what I have learned through the Christianity I am aware of >

What is taught in scripture is that we all have been sinners > "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23). All without Jesus have been enemies of God > "For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved through His life." (Romans 6:10). And we were not beautiful in God's love and in the humility of Jesus, like 1 Peter 3:4 says to have "the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (in 1 Peter 3:4).

But we were ugly in sin; we were not some gorgeous woman Jesus was begging to marry Him. But we were unworthy and undeserving of His love.

But Jesus died on the cross for us, and has saved whomever has trusted in Him (Ephesians 1:12). And if someone trusts Jesus and therefore obeys Him, "you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:29)

But if ones disobey Jesus >

"'Destruction and misery are in their ways;

'And the way of peace they have not known.'"

This is Romans 3:16-17)

This horribleness inside selfish people is not because of Jesus, but their own selfish personalities and "their ways" make them weak so they can keep on giving in to evil ways and their suffering which comes with their own selfish ways.

And if they go to hell, it will still be their own selfish nature making them able to suffer there also, as it has made them able to suffer in this life.

Therefore, Jesus is not using hell as a threat, but their own selfish character is what makes them able to so suffer . . . while being so conceited that they judge Jesus to be not good enough for them.
