Also, I can see how some might:

1. Get a tattoo with the agenda of it being a faith conversation starter.

2. Get a faith-oriented tattoo because they're in Christian circles (but really, they just want a tattoo).

3. Combination of 1+2

Hi @LoveJoyHope-lady

You posed some searching possibilities / options not long ago. Thanks for setting them out thoughtfully.

So if I may let me also pose a somewhat searching question also:

Do you really think that the Godliness of a Christian who regularly witnesses through a tattooed Bible verse is somehow in question? (Some ppl try to suggest it is.)

The experience of anticipation for opportunities to talk about the Lord can weigh heavily on Christians who have it pumped in:

@Starise back "if a brother or sister gets a tattoo they have their reasons and I believe it's one of those areas we probably should not judge another on".

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and it caused our conversation: in the hope of such conversations with such a design she likely went originally for her appointment wanting to be made a tattooed person.

As usual, NConly is likely accurate when he said:

When I see a Christian tat I just want to speak with that person knowing up front that we share in the most important choice humans have to make

The prospect of such opportunities is why so many Christians are evidently very keen to obtain their parlor appointments and have it done.

And it has another attribute.

1. if placed properly where one can see their own tat it is a constant reminder of Jesus

when one is busy and not thinking of Him.

Hi @NConly

Thanks; and what you just said reminds me of what Jar said; it's almost exactly the same point as you just made:

The reason I got this tattoo is because, as a lady from my church said, it's my cheat sheet. It's a reminder, a promise, a rebuke and it's my solace. I put it in a visible spot, so that I could read it. .. This is a permanent mark, one that will never, ever go away and I don't ever want it to. I also think that this is a statement for those who do see it and it's a reminder to myself that this is an incredibly visible tattoo and that I should conduct myself as a proper Christian when sometimes it's easy to forget. christianityboard.com

This is why it seems that from 18 onward so many Christian young men and women - and older - desire to have not only a talking point to others - your previous points in quotes - but also for themselves a permanent reminder by way of a Bible verse, etc.

I read stuff about tattoos; not sure I agree entirely with some of it:

As a man with about 50% of his body tattooed I’ll say..  men get tattooed for reasons very different than why women do. For men they are very much about social status and displaying masculinity thetransformedwife dot com

Not sure about the masculine bit there.

I do know a Christian who has Bible verses tattooed on herself all over and her conscience is fine with that, and she says it helps her witness to others. I can’t fault her motives

Girl4Jesus thetransformedwife dot com

Like it says, can't fault her motives for going through the door of the parlor and receiving the needles.

@NConly Like you said, also, placement counts for a lot.

Like you also said, back, it need not hurt much:

It does not take but one tat to learn that it does not hurt near as bad as some describe.

A lot of Christians wanting their first faith-based one likely hesitate still because of the pain anticipated at some placements.

There is no such thing as a as a faith based tattoo, all tattoo are fleshly based. I got a tattoo 60 years ago in the navy. It was all about me at the time. Who ever get a tattoo shame on you.

Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

@NConly PS: Asking someone who knows, on the subject of placement methodology:

Do you think stencil or freehand is ultimately more satisfactory? from a trusted artist, that is.

(S0metimes Bible verses chosen by the client might not already exist in the repertoire of artist's templates.)

@NConly

Not all Christians understand the inclination to express testifying faith though a tattoo parlor ink-up session.

But with some Christian men and women it's a definite inclination that is there, right?

Very strongly.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
