Not His death. Our death.

Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

To be born "from above" (the literal translation), is preceded by the death of the carnal nature,

not "identifying with His death", which is not mentioned anywhere.

2 Corinthians 4:

10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus,

that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake,

that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Manifesting as a fervent love for the brethren beloved.

1 Peter 1:

22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit

in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible,

through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

Note the highlighted portion above; purifying our souls in obedience...called sanctification.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord,

because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and

belief in the truth.

Touting grace alone always neglects the truth.

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

And grace without purpose is quickly led astray.

2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works,

but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began

This is a great truth, once it is seen that when Christ died we died the new life is just faith away….

Many blessings as His walk in the truth of this faith….

For God so loved the WORLD that WHOSOEVER believes in Him SHALL be saved.

Luke 8:52 (ESV)

And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.

Also John 17, the High Priest Prayer:

:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Maybe someone already posted this: Phil. 3:10-11

that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

God is faced with a dilemma (not that anything surprises Him), but He solves it with such sovereignty.

Adam ate of a Tree that poisoned his flesh. The wages of this was physical death (Rom.5:12-17, 6:23). But God did not give up His plan for man to partake of the Tree of Life. But if man ate of the Tree of Life, the very thing that John's gospel teaches would come to pass. God Himself would come into man. (Jn.14:10-11, 20-23). And for this lofty task we are singularly ill equipped. Even when sin and sins are paid for, we possess a house "in which no good thing dwells". To be fit for God to dwell in us, we should first die and be resurrected.

But then God would lose His corporate House - the Church, for our bodies are His MEMBERS (1st Cor.6:17). Thus, on one hand we are unworthy and should die, but on the other Satan, who has the power of death, would win (perish the thought). So God solves this magnificently. He makes the origin of the Church, Christ. In John 12:24 Christ, in that He dies, is the grain of wheat that releases all the other grains. By being IN Christ like we were all IN Adam, we are able to be partakers of Christ's death (Rom.6) and partakers of His resurrection (Eph.2:6). In God's economy we "crucified with Christ" (Gal.2:20). This takes care of the Old Man judicially.

All that is left for us to do then is to APPLY this death to our daily life, as the OP states in 2nd Corinthians 4:10-12. WE are POSITIONALLY dead that we might be dead to sin, but DISPOSITIONALLY alive to be His testimony and House.
