  1. I've frequently said to others that instead of unit patches the uniforms should bear corporation patches signifying whom the unit is representing. Exxon Mobile, Shell, BP or perhaps Haliburton.
  2. I believe there was a medic in the second world war that was Quaker and allowed to serve as a medic without bearing arms. I'll see if I can locate his story. Edit: Here is the story: https://search.brave.com/search?q=Quaker+that+served+in+WW2+as+a+medic+and+did+not+bear+arms&source=desktop
  3. While Jesus was emptying Himself for others on the cross He kept His mind on others, while also overcoming the physical pain and anguish. Then there was also the emotional pain of being abandoned while bearing all the sins of the past, present and future. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Martyrs past and present do not have the luxury of choosing which hill to die on. One is appointed to them and they must accept this and be prepared to pour themselves out under very stressful conditions. I believe it is only possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit enabling the very life of Jesus within the martyr. Mark 13:11 (ESV) And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. They have/will speak by how the martyr dies.
  4. There certainly are Christians within a State sponsored religion, but knowing how this organization was led after the edict of Milan, when Constantine legalized an approved version of Christianity, do you really believe any of the Apostles or Jesus would have accepted it as His Church? Reading the history of this organization through the first millennium, A.D. will scandalize nearly anyone.
  5. Hosea 1: 10-11(ESV) Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it was said to them, “You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, “Children of the living God.” 11 And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head. And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
  6. The Quakers accept incarceration over serving in the armed forces. There may have been instances of serving as a medic without carrying a weapon, I'm not certain on this point. Isn't being a Christian suppose to be about the government of God, being sojourners on this earth?
  7. I perform a memorial or remembrance. Partake of the bread and juice, no alcohol for me because I'm in recovery. Jesus was our last and greatest Passover and without His sacrifice we all would be without hope!
  8. Tell that to those marching off to war, after being conscripted. The Quakers have the right solution.
  9. The way things are going today, the Church will be hard to find before the tribulation! The Church as is known today. It may be unobserved as it was during the time of Constantine. A State religion is not Christianity, I believe it remained *hidden as in during the great persecution preceding Constantine. Edit: *Unobserved by written history, just details of certain martyrs.
  10. I'd rather be seeking the peace of Jesus. Non-violence, kindness and gentleness to everyone I meet. Always seeking the fruit of the Spirit and remaining in the light. Edit; Very hard to watch what is happening to this country.
  11. If I wasn't Christian I'd be in a Militia.
  12. Anyone living in the U.S. trying to remain positive about life has to avoid political news, news from major cities, zombie videos and most cultural news. Not much remaining to keep up on.
  13. ...With a progressive as V.P. What could go wrong?
  14. From my reading of early 20th century history, the same mindset existed prior to the first world war. Anarchists, tension and a relaxed approach to diplomacy.
