  1. Idols can be almost anything that is placed ahead of God. A Christian may spend an hour in prayer and bible study and then game on a computer for 12 hours. Is this an idol?
  2. Jim Thorpe learned to overcome his childhood from having participated in one of these schools. Jim thorpe early life Jim Thorpe was born circa May 28, 1887, near current-day Prague, Oklahoma. He was a child of Sac and Fox and Potawatomi Indian bloodlines, as well as French and Irish roots. He was given the name Wa-Tho-Huk, meaning “Bright Path,” but christened Jacobus Franciscus Thorpe. Thorpe learned to hunt and trap prey at an early age, developing his legendary endurance via extensive excursions through Indian Territory. He grew up with his twin brother Charlie on a farm in Oklahoma, where he learned how to hunt, ride a horse, and set a trap. Jim loved playing in the outdoors. He wasn’t very tall, but he was athletic and strong. When Jim turned six years old, he and his brother Charlie went to attend the local Indian boarding school. More of his background can be found through this link: https://search.brave.com/search?q=jim+thorpe's+early+life&source=web
  3. Acts of kindness will have a lasting affect to unbelievers. I still recall acts of kindness by Christians toward me before I was Christian. I'm speaking 40+ years of remembrance.
  4. I've frequently said to others that instead of unit patches the uniforms should bear corporation patches signifying whom the unit is representing. Exxon Mobile, Shell, BP or perhaps Haliburton.
  5. I believe there was a medic in the second world war that was Quaker and allowed to serve as a medic without bearing arms. I'll see if I can locate his story. Edit: Here is the story: https://search.brave.com/search?q=Quaker+that+served+in+WW2+as+a+medic+and+did+not+bear+arms&source=desktop
  6. While Jesus was emptying Himself for others on the cross He kept His mind on others, while also overcoming the physical pain and anguish. Then there was also the emotional pain of being abandoned while bearing all the sins of the past, present and future. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Martyrs past and present do not have the luxury of choosing which hill to die on. One is appointed to them and they must accept this and be prepared to pour themselves out under very stressful conditions. I believe it is only possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit enabling the very life of Jesus within the martyr. Mark 13:11 (ESV) And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. They have/will speak by how the martyr dies.
  7. There certainly are Christians within a State sponsored religion, but knowing how this organization was led after the edict of Milan, when Constantine legalized an approved version of Christianity, do you really believe any of the Apostles or Jesus would have accepted it as His Church? Reading the history of this organization through the first millennium, A.D. will scandalize nearly anyone.
  8. Hosea 1: 10-11(ESV) Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it was said to them, “You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, “Children of the living God.” 11 And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head. And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
  9. The Quakers accept incarceration over serving in the armed forces. There may have been instances of serving as a medic without carrying a weapon, I'm not certain on this point. Isn't being a Christian suppose to be about the government of God, being sojourners on this earth?
  10. I perform a memorial or remembrance. Partake of the bread and juice, no alcohol for me because I'm in recovery. Jesus was our last and greatest Passover and without His sacrifice we all would be without hope!
  11. Tell that to those marching off to war, after being conscripted. The Quakers have the right solution.
  12. The way things are going today, the Church will be hard to find before the tribulation! The Church as is known today. It may be unobserved as it was during the time of Constantine. A State religion is not Christianity, I believe it remained *hidden as in during the great persecution preceding Constantine. Edit: *Unobserved by written history, just details of certain martyrs.
  13. I'd rather be seeking the peace of Jesus. Non-violence, kindness and gentleness to everyone I meet. Always seeking the fruit of the Spirit and remaining in the light. Edit; Very hard to watch what is happening to this country.
  14. If I wasn't Christian I'd be in a Militia.
  15. Anyone living in the U.S. trying to remain positive about life has to avoid political news, news from major cities, zombie videos and most cultural news. Not much remaining to keep up on.
  16. ...With a progressive as V.P. What could go wrong?
  17. From my reading of early 20th century history, the same mindset existed prior to the first world war. Anarchists, tension and a relaxed approach to diplomacy.
  18. The following was derived from a search using Brave web browser; Types of Christian prayer Christian prayer can be categorized into different types, varying by denomination and tradition. Over time, theologians have studied these types of prayer. Here are some of the common categories: Vocal Prayer: This type of prayer involves using words, either spoken or sung, to communicate with God. Examples include the Lord’s Prayer, Psalms, and prayers of intercession. Meditation (Inward Prayer): This type of prayer involves reflecting on God’s word and presence in silence. It’s a form of mental prayer that helps deepen one’s relationship with God. Contemplative Prayer: This is a deeper form of prayer where one seeks to have a closer relationship with God. It often involves focusing on a single word or phrase, or simply being in God’s presence without words. ACTS Prayer: This is an acronym that stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. These are the four major types of prayer found in the Bible. Lament Prayer: This type of prayer involves expressing one’s sorrow, grief, or despair to God. It’s a way to bring our fears and doubts to God and seek His comfort and guidance. Prayer of Thanksgiving: This type of prayer involves expressing gratitude to God for His blessings and goodness. It’s a way to acknowledge God’s provision and faithfulness in our lives. Prayer of Worship: This type of prayer involves praising and adoring God for who He is. It’s a way to express our love and reverence for God and to acknowledge His sovereignty. Intercessory Prayer: This type of prayer involves praying for others, asking God to meet their needs and answer their requests. Fellowship Prayer: This type of prayer involves praying together with other believers, either in a group or as a congregation. It’s a way to strengthen our bonds with one another and with God. Prayers of Petition: This type of prayer involves asking God for specific things, such as healing, guidance, or provision. Remember, these categories are not exhaustive, and different Christian traditions may have different ways of classifying prayer. The most important thing is to cultivate a personal relationship with God through prayer, regardless of the specific type or category. https://search.brave.com/search?q=types+of+christian+prayer&source=desktop
  19. Scriptures also say that the Angels are servants of the most high God. Heb. 1:14 (ESV), Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? And 1 Pet. 1:10-12, Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. They must serve or minister to both God and Man as directed. They also ministered to Jesus after his trial in the wilderness.
  20. Why is there so much about the end times throughout the bible? Because prophecy is one proof of the Eternal speaking truth! So that there would be unfulfilled prophecies throughout the church era for Christians to look back and see prophecies fulfilled and be encouraged to know other unfulfilled prophecies will come to pass. 2Pet. 1: 20-21 (ESV) knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Edit: This one especially: Rev.19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
  21. The reality is we are all open books to Him. I try not to avoid the sticky, hard topics and admit my rubbish openly to seek His mercy. Jer. 9: 23-24
  22. Well, that's cool! Thanks Michael! How long before a latex exterior'd synthetic is preaching from a pulpit? It'll know more than many Christians superficially, or deeply? Really weird for me to contemplate. Edit: Google or search the latest robot from Boston dynamics.
  23. The twelve stones of the breastplate perhaps correspond with what is written in Rev. 21: 12-14 concerning New Jerusalem? It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
  24. If one takes the time and listens to teachers on social media sites express how children are behaving in school, it is truly frightening. When these kids come of age- or sooner - there will be a great deal more violence in the streets than what is seen now. The way these children are described is nothing short of being feral. This is just one aspect of how the modern culture is developing away from any sense of a morality that has authority over a person's life.
