My understanding of that passage of scripture is that it is Jesus Himslef speaking those words (aka Wisdom), and He is speaking of Himself. I don't think they are about us, they are about Him.

Heard it taught in a different way one time also and it was the Holy Spirit speaking of himself.

I like it both ways. Don't know it that is possible. Is it?? Do we always have to understand the scriptures in just one way?? Can it reach us in different ways depending on the revelation given to us??

I don't know the answer to my own question. I just know that the Holy Spirit can teach us. And that is the ultimate wish of mine. To have the Holy Spirit lead and guide me..

There's a few problems with it being of Jesus or the Holy Spirit...

"The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old."

Jesus IS 'The LORD' - HE created everything. John 1 tells us

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

" When there were no depths, I was brought forth;"

Jesus has always been and will always be, an eternal. He was not created or "brought forth". Neither was the Holy Spirit. The only time Jesus was "brought forth" was to be the only "begotten" Son of Man, born of woman. And this is speaking of the creation of the world itself.

The Psalmist David is writing this. He is speaking of himself, having come to recognize by the Spirit that He is of the elect and was with God before the world was created. To which we see such New Testament statements as...

"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"

Isn't the Word Jesus Christ? It says the Word was the same as God in the

beginning. It also says the Word created everything. This could refer to

Jesus.

This can't refer to the Bible because the creation of the Universe was before

the Bible was even started.

I believe it is Jesus who is being referred.

Jesus IS the creator (john 1:1-5) who did all the things mentioned as "he," so that doesn't work

Paul tells us the entire universe persists by the mere exertion of Christ's WILL

Im saying the passage can't be talking about Jesus because it implies a created being, "brought forth" and Jesus was never created, he has always been eternally one with the Father, as John 1:1-5 tells us. In the Psalm the speaker is talking about all the wonderful things of creation THE LORD did. Jesus was that LORD that did all these things, so it can't be him. Jesus is the Creator.

it was not the Father who walked in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the evening, but Christ, preincarnate. Jesus tells us "No man has ever seen God," so we know that throughout history, when men have dealt with God, they were dealing not with The Father, whom Jesus says no man has seen his form or known him, but rather they were dealing with Christ.

So this passage of Psalms can't be speaking about Jesus. Or the Holy Spirit, who was also never created or "brought forth" but is eternal and one with the Godhead. It must be speaking of David himself, the writer.

we are all, even angels, created beings... but the elect were before the world began, in some way, and known to God.

If David was talking about himself, why did he refer to himself in the third person? Why couldn't he have said " I am the Word"?
