To add: There have been times when I would have visions ( No not drug induced) of what I deemed random things, things that would almost paralyze me as they came. Then they would just stun me as I would later encounter them in what I presume is this real life. It would be as though I had been "there" before, a deja vu.

More and more though, visions have become flashbacks of objects places and items from the past, all without context that I am aware of, nor for application ( Least not so far). I end up having a short Bible passage come to mind yet without apparent personal application; visions and dreams  perhaps as referenced at both Acts and Joel.

So at long last I have decided to ask of others what dreams what visions might you experience; visions and dreams as what I "see" as flashbacks in my own experiences.

Thanks all for being so willing to share of such personal experiences. To me my own are lessons available to me, practical lessons that I am not alone, never alone, that I am always part of something larger than my own mind easily perceives. Often I think it is that which is unseen spirit, or spiritual, yet there it is seen vividly at moments.

It's not at all unusual nor out of the ordinary to receive visions given by the Spirit, brother. I received two such visions of events which came to pass 25 years after receiving them. I'll offer a brief synopsis of one here. It will become apparent how receiving prophetic visions from the Lord serve as the sort of "flashback" that builds faith and reminds me of reality in Jesus Christ.

I witnessed a vision that took place in a strange house. It was dark inside because the shades on all of the windows were drawn, blocking blazing sunlight on the outside from flooding indoors. I stood up and walked toward a mirror mounted on a closet door in the room; when I stood in front of that mirror, I saw a strange man gazing back at me. I was horrified by his appearance. He was gaunt and skeletal with wispy hair... but it was his eyes that tore into my heart. He was beyond exhausted. He looked like he was almost dead.

He opened his mouth and I watched as four teeth fell out of his mouth and into the palm of his hand. I looked down and saw those four teeth sitting in the palm of my own hand. It was at that moment I knew the truth: I am this man. The vision ended.

That happened 25 years later when I was almost dead. When it happened,  it all came back to me.

I remember this and it reminds me of the power, goodness, and mercy of the Lord. He never abandoned me at any time.

I have flashbacks so often, the past comes with such intensity that I can see it, smell it. It is painful to see how much can change forever without a warning. It is this feeling of: I lived that everyday, until one day it ended forever and, in the last time that I was living it, I didn't even know it would never happen again. I am referring to things like: the last time my parents, my siblings and I shared a meal together when we were young, or church friends that I thought I would see again in our summer camping but who never returned. Stuff like that. My heart shrinks as I have those flashbacks, but God inflates it again.

I do have a comforting flashback. It is when it rains. Flashbacks of when I was little and walked everywhere with my mother, who didn't drive. I remember how even with all the discomforts of rain, tiredness, boredom, how I felt safe and comforted by her, without words, or promises (from her), or complaints (from me). I still feel that comfort with those flashbacks: the dark clouds, the uncomfortable atmosphere, cars throwing us water with their tires, me under a pink umbrella, dressed with a pink trench coat, just holding her hand, with a steady step, in complete trust that at some point we would get to a good place. This is the picture of comfort to me.

Sometimes they are dreams....just before waking up...

How can I forget the day when my adopted mother's heart of stone softened?

Very touching story; thank you for sharing and more importantly, thank you for your perseverance.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
