Overcoming Pride With Thanksgiving

My view, and the manner in which I taught my children,

is that every opportunity to feel and express pride

should be replaced with the opportunity to be thankful.

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God 

and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

In this way we remind ourselves of this truth:

2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think

of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God:

 

And all is for the glory of God:

John 15:

4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,

unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him,

bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 

6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;

and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 

7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask

what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 

8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Humility allows thankfulness to be expressed and grace to be received.

Hi @timf This also reminds me of Philippians 2, where the Lord Jesus 'humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him....'
