Washing, Cleansing, and the Work of the Spirit

Titus 3:4-6 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior...

1 John 1:7-9 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 

Both are the work of the Holy Spirit, and there must be agreement...

1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood;

and these three agree as one.

Where is the agreement established by which all these things work for our good?

How do we apply this knowledge to a correct application of the Apostolic Doctrine?

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves

from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
