If I understood Reverend right, he was connecting the 1/4 of the earth in the scripture to an Islamic empire that will or does contain 1/4 of the world's population. But what I gathered from the scripture was that it was the one forth of the world that dies, not one forth of the world that does the killing.

I think it's dangerous to limit the Word of God to say that this is only this or that is that. In other words, I don't think that the pale horse is only the Muslim world. God can use anything as His instrument to fulfill His will. Here it says that power was given unto 'them' over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Death from hunger is happening as we speak and it has nothing to do with being Muslim or not. It is due to the sin of the world. We are all continuing to sin which shows itself in our environment, which shows itself in the areas where famine has become an overwhelming problem. The beasts of the earth are revolting against humans. It may be just because there is more news from around the world but we hear a lot about vicious dogs, sharks, bears, lions etc attacking humans, not to mention the possibility of millions being killed by something that comes from birds.

Sin is the cause of the pale horse, not any one or more nations. God may use a certain people to punish as He did with the Assyrian (Isaiah 10:5-19). Rather than hating the instrument of God, we should get rid of the sin that causes the judgment. Just as Moses raised up the serpent on the pole so that the people had to look at their sin in order to be healed, so should we look at our sin, repent and change. If we all do that, our earth can and will be healed.

I'm sorry Mk, possibly my intellignece has deserted me, but i am really not clear on your explanation of my original question. You have quoted the biblical verse, I know that verse also, what is your interpretation of this verse?

anne-I believe the verse was a reference to the increase in bloodshed in the last days. The article was used to help support the idea. I wanted to see if anyone had anything more specific in mind.

By the way, turmoil- I thought you were off when you said pale ment sickly, but then someone told me "choloros' the greek word, is were we get the word choline. Which is pale green. So that was neat, thanks.
