Four Horns and Four Craftsmen

Zechariah 1:
18 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were four horns.
19 And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?”
So he answered me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen.
21 And I said, “What are these coming to do?”
So he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.”

Four nations to be judged for scattering Israel and Judah.
Four skilled men to bring retribution.

The Vengeance of the Lord, and His Temple.
Is the current war directed towards these four horns?

The four troublers of Israel:

Egypt (the iron furnace) where the nation was forged, and consistently involved in her history.

1 Kings 14:25 It happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. 26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he took away everything. He also took away all the gold shields which Solomon had made.

 

Syria 

2 Kings 12:17 Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it; then Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem. 18 And Jehoash king of Judah took all the sacred things that his fathers, Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own sacred things, and all the gold found in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and in the king’s house, and sent them to Hazael king of Syria. Then he went away from Jerusalem.

 

Assyria, in the time of Hezekiah- who carried Israel away into captivity.

 

Babylon and the Chaldeans-who destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple.

 

Assyria and Egypt are eventually restored to favor.

Isaiah 19:24 In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing in the midst of the land, 25 whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”

The Army of the Republic of Turkey has carved out a position in N. Syria and is worth consideration as a craftsman. U. S. involvement seems inevitable.

To what degree will Iran be drawn into the conflict as a supporter of militias in Syria? Will this lead to a direct conflict with Iran, or will this bring the fall of the Ayatollahs?
