What does it mean to worship?

John Four:

21-24 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Philippians Three:

3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit,

rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Service As Worship

Romans One:

9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit

in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make

mention of you always in my prayers...

Romans Seven:

6 But now we have been delivered from the law,

having died to what we were held by, so that

we should serve in the newness of the Spirit

and not in the oldness of the letter.

Hebrews Nine:

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ,

who through the eternal Spirit offered himself

without spot to God, purge your conscience

from dead works to serve the living God?

Romans Twelve:

1 Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters,

by the mercies of God, to present your bodies

as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, 

which is your spiritual service of worship.

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 

Hebrews Nine:

Luke One:

Being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

Luke Twenty-Two:

26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

28 “But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. 29 And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
