Atheists hiding DVD copies of anti-Jesus film in churches

A media company that produced a best-selling documentary asserting that Jesus Christ never existed today launches its "War on Easter," encouraging volunteer atheists to plant copies of the film "The God Who Wasn't There" in churches across the United States.

Dubbing the effort "Operation Easter Sanity," Brian Flemming, a self-described "former Christian fundamentalist" and president of Beyond Belief Media, hopes to covertly place 666 copies of the documentary in churches by Easter Sunday, April 16. The number 666 is the biblical mark of "The Beast," which also is the name of another film by Flemming set for a 06-06-06 release.

"People go to churches to hide from the truth," Flemming said in a statement. "At no time is this more apparent than Easter, when Christians get together to convince each other that a man died, stayed dead three days, rose from the dead and then flew into the air above the clouds.

"Our nonviolent campaign sends the message that nowhere in the country is safe from the truth. Wherever Christian leaders are indoctrinating children with 2,000-year-old fairy tales, the truth may just find its way there."

Continued the former Christian: "Our 'War on Easter' is of course completely without violence of any kind. Christians believe that beating a man to a pulp and nailing him to a cross somehow solves all the world's problems. Beyond Belief Media does not."

"The God Who Wasn't There" is currently No. 5 on Amazon.com's list of best-selling documentaries.

Fleming claims to have planted copies of the DVD at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic cathedral in Los Angeles Sunday morning.

"I put the DVDs in my right inside jacket pocket," he explained on the War on Easter website. "It was a gorgeous Palm Sunday. The kind of day that makes you want to ride on a donkey and get hit with palm fronds.

It's interesting. I have to wonder how many of these six hundred and six people will be saved or have the seed planted within them. At the churches I have attended the majority of people come through the doors with a big smile on their faces and surely this will impact even unbelievers. Now that I think about it, we should all make it a point to bring at least one person who professes to be Christian to church with us, especially on Easter.

Also, I heard about this years ago, it's something they do every Easter. I am sure that any Christian that finds the DVD will just throw it away. They're wasting their time.

The definition of "anti-christos" encompasses all atheists, and as well all false religions.

No, its childish. On the level of fraternity pranks. the 666 thing is used because they think it will freak christians out. You can see by (most) of the replies to this thread that it doesn't. You can see by (most) of the replies this thread that many christians have:

1. A sense of humour

2. A sense of proportion

3. A forgiving and loving nature

Stunts like this will no more shake the foundations of the church than spraying swastikas on jewish cemeteries will bring down the state of Israel.

You and they may only think it's a childish prank but ultimately their intentions were not good, hense they were evil. While I do not percieve them to be any threat it does not change that their mischeif was born of a deeper seeded hatred.

They would have felt their intentions were good. They feel they are trying to spread some enlightenment, free people from the yoke of superstition.

Their methods are childish, their intentions are good, and there is no hatred, rather concern.

How can you say that their intentions are good? They are trying to draw people away from Christ. (Our ONLY way to salvation) Are you a believer StewartP, because you certainly do not sound like one.

It's the meaning of the word "intention" What do they intend? What do they mean to do?

They are NOT thinking "Hey, lets stop these people form being saved. Lets make these people go to hell" because they do not believe in any of that. Their intent rather is "Let's try and get these people to think rationally and scientifically"

We have already established that their methods are childish and misguided. They have probably scored an "own goal" with this one. But from their point of view, their INTENT is not malign.

From the Christian point of view, of course, they are trying to draw people away from the church, away from God.
