As many of you know, I was raised Seventh day Adventist and was saved 2 years ago and brought out of that deception by the grace of God.

They have a unique doctrine- exclusive to them- that Jesus is in the heavenly sanctuary judging the world and when He gets done your chance will be up and it will be decided at any time. BTW, it started in 1844....say it's a weird doctrine.ok

What I'm not clear on is whether or not there is an actual heavenly sanctuary as in Hebrews 9 or if this is symbolic to Jesus and if there is an actual heavenly sanctuary does anyone know what it is for?

As you can see, I'm very unclear on this and really would appreciate any help.

It's the most confusing doctrine I have ever heard of and there is so much wrong with it I don't need to confuse you with the details, but yeah, "probation" started in 1844 (according to them) and will end at any time..........

Purpose of the heavenly sanctuary to draw near to God makes no sense to me sense He is omnipresent and dwells in me.

I have heard this taught and in this respect would have to say there is a heavenly sanctuary.

Since a sacrifice of animals was to cover the people with the blood of the animal by putting that blood on the mercy seat; it can only be seen clearly that since there is a mercy seat in heaven that Jesus had to put His blood on the mercy seat in heaven because He was the Lamb of God and the Lamb of sacrifice for all. This is scriptural and it entails a great deal of study to bring all of this together.

All things were done in the spiritual realm and physcal realm so it can be said, (paraphrased) As it is in heaven so shall it be done on earth. I don't know where that scripture is at the moment. Not only that I believe that Jesus blood, when He was pierced in the side, seeped down through the rocks of Golgotha and seeped onto the mercy seat of the Ark of the covenant that is under the Golgotha. I do think the Ark of the Covenant is under Golgotha.

We can also go before the throne of grace with boldness so that should show a heavenly sanctuary also.

Apparently the King of Tyre had a sanctuary too:

Ezekiel 28:18 You defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities..............

Interesting topic, I will look this up in my Dictionary of Biblical Symbology later and see what it can contribute to this.

I guess this is an unclear topic for everyone. I thought the knowledge and wisdom on this board could surely come up with something! From what I have studied it appears the Daniel 8:14 is past and refers to a prophecy already fulfilled.

I hope this helps... it is incomplete, but I am still researching it.

Daniel 8:14

Verse 14. Unto two thousand and three hundred days

Though literally it be two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings. Yet I think the prophetic day should be understood here, as in other parts of this prophet, and must signify so many years. If we date these years from the vision of the he-goat, (Alexander's invading Asia,) this was A.M. 3670, B.C. 334; and two thousand three hundred years from that time will reach to A.D. 1966, or one hundred and forty-one years from the present A.D. 1825. This will bring it near to the time mentioned Daniel 7:25, where see the note.

Daniel 7:25

He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.

Verse 25. He shall speak great words against the Most High

Sermones quasi Deus loquetur; "He shall speak as if he were God." So St. Jerome quotes from Symmachus. To none can this apply so well or so fully as to the popes of Rome. They have assumed infallibility, which belongs only to God. They profess to forgive sins, which belongs only to God. They profess to open and shut heaven, which belongs only to God. They profess to be higher than all the kings of the earth, which belongs only to God. And they go beyond God in pretending to loose whole nations from their oath of allegiance to their kings, when such kings do not please them! And they go against God when they give indulgences for sin. This is the worst of all blasphemies!

And shall wear out the saints

By wars, crusades, massacres, inquisitions, and persecutions of all kinds. What in this way have they not done against all those who have protested against their innovations, and refused to submit to their idolatrous worship? Witness the exterminating crusades published against the Waldenses and Albinenses. Witness John Huss, and Jerome of Prague. Witness the Smithfield fires in England! Witness God and man against this bloody, persecuting, ruthless, and impure Church!

And think to charge tines and laws

Appointing fasts and feasts; canonizing persons whom he chooses to call saints; granting pardons and indulgences for sins; instituting new modes of worship utterly unknown to the Christian Church; new articles of faith; new rules of practice; and reversing, with pleasure, the laws both of God and man.-Dodd.

Until a time and times and the dividing of time.

In prophetic language a time signifies a year; and a prophetic year has a year for each day. Three years and a half (a day standing for a year, as in Daniel 9:24) will amount to one thousand two hundred and sixty years, if we reckon thirty days to each month, as the Jews do.

If we knew precisely when the papal power began to exert itself in the antichristian way, then we could at once fix the time of its destruction. The end is probably not very distant; it has already been grievously shaken by the French. In 1798 the French republican army under General Berthier took possession of the city of Rome, and entirely superseded the whole papal power. This was a deadly wound, though at present it appears to be healed; but it is but skinned over, and a dreadful cicatrice remains. The Jesuits, not JESUS, are now the Church's doctors.

If the papal power, as a horn or temporal power, be intended here, which is most likely, (and we know that that power was given in 755 to Pope Stephen II. by Pepin, king of France,) counting one thousand two hundred and sixty years from that, we are brought to A.D. 2015, about one hundred and ninety years from the present {A.D. 1825.} But I neither lay stress upon nor draw conclusions from these dates. If the Church of Rome will reform itself, it will then be the true Christian Church, and will never be destroyed. Let it throw aside all that is ritually Jewish, all that is heathen; all that which pretends to be of God, and which is only of man; all doctrines that are not in the Bible; and all rites and ceremonies which are not of the appointment of Christ and his apostles; and then, all hail the once Roman, but now, after such a change, the HOLY, Catholic Church! Every true Protestant would wish rather the reform than the extinction of this Church.

Here is someting from the same book on Hebrews 9. I think these are the overall notes at the end of the chapter but it's focus is verse 28:

It is supposed that in Hebrews 9:28, the apostle, in speaking about Christ's bearing the sins of many, alludes to the ceremony of the scape goat. This mysterious sacrifice was to be presented to God, Leviticus 16:7, and the sins of the people were to be confessed over the head of it, Leviticus 16:21, and after this the goat was dismissed into a land uninhabited, laden, as the institution implied, with the sins of the people; and this the word

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
