Truth is not relative. Every religion cannot be right, only one can. Many religions have bits of truth in them, but not the whole truth. I believe only Christianity holds that whole truth. -Passionate

To take this a step further,

Truth is not relative.

If something is truth, then there is no part of it that is false.

If something is false, there is no part of it that is true.

If something is partialy true, then that means there is something that is false, therefore, that falseness makes the partial truth complete falseness!

Christianity is the only religion that does not have anything false in it.

(Proven by history and revelation from God)

Good post Passionate! :P

Feraline:

There is so much complacency in the world these days that it's so refreshing to see someone actively seeking truth on a topic that is all-important. Yet another very valid question you ask.

Here's my take on why Christianity is so much different, as well as the truth.

The writings of the Bible span thousands of years - the beginning was when humans had the capacity to write (even according to secular science) and spans our human history up until 2 thousand years ago. They were written by MANY men from all walks of life - from kings to farmers - most of these men did not know each other, lived in different geographical areas at different time periods, yet write remarkable similar accounts of the same God. Some didn't even have the benefit of previous writings. So, first off, the Bible has the most comprehensive, biggest book that spans the longest amount of time, written by the most amount of people. Most other religions and their written works were created by one man during one time period.

Christianity is the only religion that contains prophesy. One quarter of the Bible contains prophesy - events that have already come to pass have been predicted with 100 percent accuracy and events still to come are fortold. The old testament contains many, many references to the Messiah, or God in the flesh, which came to pass with the existance of Jesus. No other religion dares to speak ANYTHING of things to come.

Other religions teach that we must do certain things to acheive an afterlife, higher conciousness, whatever. In Christianity, we can't do ANYTHING to achieve heaven - we can only accept a gift!

No other religions speak of a dark force or evil. Christianity not only tells us much about the evil forces affecting our world, it also tells us how we can equip ourselves against it.

No other religion gives a solid account of man's origins. In Genesis you can read how we humans, the earth and the universe came into being.

No other religion states that it IS the only way. Christianity is the only religion to do so. (though i hesitate to call it a religion) Was Christ wrong in stating this, or was he telling us the truth?

In other religions, the founders all lived long and happy lives and were accepted relatively well by others during their stay on earth. Christ, however, was put to death - an innocent death at that, that no one would take accountability for, and he did so LOVINGLY and WILLINGLY, (as did so many of his followers.)

No other religion has sent God in the flesh to earth to minister to us.

If Christ is not who he says he is, he was the biggest liar and Christianity is the biggest hoax the world has ever seen.

Was he a liar or a lunatic?

I had to think to reply to this question, thinking requires work... :t2:

Anyway... I believe that all, or at least almost all religons contain a little truth. Truth about feelings, about things that are uncertain, and about people is something... Higher... Its something almost out of reach for the best of mankind in my opinion. Like...... Like a nearly endless quest. Every step makes you weary, it seems to be pretty hopeless... But every step closer, every realization on the way is a gratification. :P

This is very truth Teh, most all world religions (and even some on the fringe of society) contain varying amounts of truth. It is what makes them appealing to us suffering humans. We are looking for answers and we think we find them in the form of Buddism, Hinduism, Islam, and a variety of other beliefs and cults.

The incredibly unfortunate thing about this is, a little truth isn't going to change the reality of hell. Eternal Damnation. The full payment of what is rightfully ours as a race is waiting for us amoung the half-truths and carefully guarded lies residing in every religion.

Except Christianity. Artsy said it best when she questioned whether or not to call Christianity a religion or not. I don't think of it as that because I can *religiously* watch tv for 3 hours everyday at the same time.

Christianity is a personal relationship with our Creator, Savior and Friend. Christianity is the only *religion* (for lack of a better term) that contains the ONLY way to heaven and eternal life. That way is through belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came to earth to die in our place as sinners and that He rose from the dead to the right hand of the Father in heaven to bring us life.

When we come to Christ in repentance and faith, in essence, we die with Christ as He did on the cross these many years ago. It is us aligning ourselves with His suffering. And if we died with Him on that tree, then we shall also live with Him in glory. A newly regenerated heart, no longer bound by the desires of this world, will long to serve, love and cherish the One who allowed us to be restored to Him that loved us first.

Jesus Christ is the [only] Way, the [only] Truth and the [only] Life. And noone comes to the Father but through Him.

As Paul says in the Book of Romans;

"But what does it say?  'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' (that is, the word of faith which we preach to you): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, 'Whoever believes on HIm will not be put to shame.'  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  For 'whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved'" (Romans 10:8-13)

I am praying that the Lord Jesus will reveal Himself to you Teh, and feraline. I know that your honest search for truth will not be in vain.

One thing I'm curious about... Other religons claim to be the only way as well. How do you know you won't be eternally punished for not worshipping Allah or another God?

My bet is that a part of a religon that says your going to burn forever if you don't join them isn't very likely to be correct.

I think I made the pointe earlier, Teh, that most religions do not teach themselves to be the only way to God of heaven, accept for the major three. Aside from Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, most other major world religions teach a path to enlightenment through various practices.

However, if you consider the fact that the major three world religions teach a path directly to heaven or to God, you may come to the conclusion that there has to be only one right way. Teaching that a person will suffer eternal torment because they chose wrongly is not a reason to say that a certain religion is false. I'll give you an example of another viewpoint.

Let's say you were walking down the street one day and suddenly you smell smoke. You begin to walk faster, sensing that a house may be on fire. Suddenly to come across a house that is billowing smoke from the first floor of a three story house. You look up and there are several open windows on the third floor. You notice that there are people sitting in the windows, so you call up, "Hey! Your house is on fire! Get out of there!" A man in one of the windows calls back to you, "There is no fire. Fire is relative." Then another woman follows with, "Who are you to tell me there's a fire?"

You can't believe this! The fire is beginning to grow, and now there is more smoke coming from the bottom floor. Through the smoke you can see flames. Again, you call out, "YOUR BUILDING IS ON FIRE. GET OUT OF THE BUILDING OR YOU WILL DIE!" The people do not move. One younger guy calls out, "Quit being so preachy! I'm in charge of my own fate." Then a young woman calls out, "There is no such thing as fire. Go peddle your fire calling elsewhere."

Now the fire is definitely beginning to consume the first floor. You realize now that there would be no way of going in and saving any of those people. They have to come out of the windows and climb down the fire escape. So once more you call out, "FIRE! THERE IS A FIRE AND YOU WILL ALL DIE UNLESS YOU ESCAPE!!!" One elderly woman hears you, and looks down to see that the building is really on fire! So she begins to climb the fire escape to safety. By the time the fire department gets there, the building is completely consumed and the rest of the people died there.

This is a short allegory of how Christians view the world. We believe that the Lord has made an escape for us from a world that will be consumed by fire (sin and death). Each man or woman has a choice. Either take the ladder of salvation, or suffer in the eventual fire. This is not condemnation to hell, it is a warning given to unbelievers that there is a way out, an escape. Wiccan, the building is on fire, and the flames are beginning to grow. Will you choose to take the escape, or will you burn up? The choice is yours. It always has been.

One can deny the Bible...one can deny Christ...and even deny that God exists. But the one thing they cannot deny is the power of a changed life.

Christ certainly changes lives. This subjective experience is not definitive truth, since other religious experiences can change lives (Scientology).

Again, the distinction between behavioral truth and redemptive truth is important. Christianity/Word of God is a revelation of who God is and what He has done. The resurrection is the historical, space-time seal that Christ is the only way.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
