So, my parents figure out 2.5 years later after joining our current church that they do not like it. So they went to a new church this morning and both love it, and thats great, but I am happy with my current church. The youth pastor at this new church leads worship and they love him, but that doesn't matter because they won't be dealing with him as much as the youth does. I do not want to leave my youth group, my youth pastor ,the other youth leaders, my friends. There are too many memories, too many good times, the leaders know me personally and that took awhile for me to get to know them and trust them. I cannot go through this again, at a new church. I do not like meeting new people, building new friendships, knowing the leaders on a one to one basis, etc. Its hard for me, and I am happy where I am for the most part. I do not have a say so in regards to changing churches. They have youth group on sunay night and I hate going to church on sunday night because I usually have a ton of homework. On Wednesday night they have supper and the adults have class, well what am I going to do? I would love to continue on with my current youth group on Wednesday nights but doubt that will happen. I don;t know, this is too much for me. I know all these people very well, if I didn't it wouldn't be this hard, why did they wait 2.5 years to tell us they don't like it?! I am so frustrated, angry, saddened by this whole thing. I cannot leave my youth group.

I am sorry this is happening, but there is most likely a reason ( perhaps bibical teaching) or some other issue that is important enough to them to make them move to a new church.

And yes we often get stuck in a rut and don't like to change, but change will be a part of your life from now on. You did not say your age but at some point you will graduate and have to move off to college or go to work, And within the work world, you will get new jobs, new positions, you will move from apartment to apartment and perhaps buy a house or two making new friends and neighbors thoughout the years.

And you will meet new friends and make friends over the years.

Of course they may allow you to keep going to a different youth groups on Wed unless there was another problem at the church they belive is best not to be around.

My son often goes to vacation bible school and even youth classes at another church ( different denomination) because we don't offer much of a youth program.

well as of june 3rd i am 16.5 lol, sorry couldn't resist myself. Sounds lame doesn't is 16.5? It usd to work at 12...lol. Umm, my mom, sister, and myself were pentecostal and this church is Baptist and she feels its a dead church. Nothing is being taught thats weird, it just isnt pentecostal or as lively, your lucky to clap your hands once lol. I think thats the only reason. The church they visited today was non-denominational. Maybe change isn't a bad thing, but I love the people at my current church....I hate leaving them, especially my youth pastor and his wife.

Can you get to your old church okay?? Or could you arrange to get there if necessary?

Maybe you could arrange to stay at your old church but maybe go with your parents to their new church once a month or something??

If they want to move, they must be feeling like they're not getting anything from the church anymore but if you still want to go and if you still feel like you are getting something from there, maybe you could arrange something mutually beneficial.

If not, maybe you could keep in touch with people at your old church and meet up for a coffee or whatever regularly?

Sorry if this isn't any help, it's early and I'm tired!

Hi There,

At the age of 16.5 you definitely know how you feel. However as a Christian you know that you must honor your parents who are obviously Christian and are trying to follow God and want your best welfare also.

Without being demanding!! .........ask your parents to talk to you about this issue. Share your feelings and then suggest you going to both churches...at different times. This will give you time to see what is going on at the new church and also enable you to see your friends. Please do remember that in the end it is CHrist that we are wanting to please. Christ is more important than our ease. I think your attitude is what is really important. To say that you just cannot do something is truly an attitude that is only looking at self. As a Christian There is God's will involved and the commandment of honoring your parents and THEN your desire.

Let us know how it goes!

I have been to many different churches. The last two was very difficult to leave, especially the last one. I still MISS my last church very much. My parents made me leave on the two occasions. Anyway, the church I left and the church I went to are both Pentecostal and the teachings are basically the same. Yesterday, I went to church and was thinking of my old church, and then the thought came, any thing that is living usually moves and grows, so maybe it is God's way of putting me to grow in my walk in Christ. Plus I was obedient to my parents. It is hard but that is the way it is. I know exactly how you are feeling because I still feel the same way. But look forward to seeing the good that will come out of it. Everything always works out for good. He will give you the grace and strength, the same way he gave it to me.

I am so glad you understand where I am coming from! no one else does and its getting very old lol. I should get my license by the end of july so then I can drive myself.....I dont think they would have a problem with that. If they do then they are just being mean. I will probably go to their church on sundays and mine on wednesday for youth group.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
