The Senate will vote next week on three bills related to stem cell research, including a measure that would expand federal funding for a procedure that uses and destroys human embryos in the drive to cure diseases that afflict millions of Americans.

I know I'll probably ruffle some feathers, but I think we should move ahead with stem cell research. Who knows what diseases they might be able to cure. An embryo in the lab is not the same as a fetus in a womb. I am also for cloning.

God forbid such atrocity...

Prayerfully this will not pass..

If it does then I am counting on Bush to keep the promise of veto it..

Humans are not created by God to be test objects in a science lab....

I agree with you 100%; it's inhumane not to proceed. I also agree with cloning body parts.

There's a vital bit information missing from that newslink. (If it's there I didn't see it.)

Part one:

At its core is H.R. 810, the House-passed bill, which would allow fertility clinic patients to donate their spare embryos to federally financed researchers.

That's very important because if someone is against donating their embryos and prefer to just destroy them the usual way they still have that option; nobody is going to be forced to do anything against their conscience. (Of course my question has always been if someone is against destroying the embryos then why are they getting invitro to begin with??? )

I wonder why Fox News didn't get more specific with that tidbit of information?

Parts two and three are loosely covered but I should point out these are conservatives sponsoring them and should be passed too:

Sponsored by Pennsylvania GOP Sens. Rick Santorum and Arlen Specter, encourages the National Institutes of Health to finance work that might someday allow scientists to produce cells equivalent to embryonic stem cells without destroying embryos.

The other, sponsored by Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and known as the Fetus Farming Prohibition Act, would make it a crime for anyone to trade in tissues from fetuses that were conceived and aborted expressly for research purposes.

This is a package deal as far as I know folks; all yes or all no. Keep in mind real human beings lives are at stake including of course Christian lives since the vast majority of the people in this country at least are Christian. Christians get diabetes, parkinsons, spinal cord injuries, lukemia etc.

Also keep in mind that even if this measure fails, or if it passes and Bush vetos, those pin-head sized embryos will be still be destroyed with absolutely nothing gained. If this passes and Bush vetos (using his first veto since coming to office) this will be one more thing on his head.

What we need to be doing is working to outlaw invetro fertilization and abortion. Then unborn babies and what you describe as "those pinhead sized embryos" won't continue to be destroyed in any way. That is something I can get behind.

I disagree with you obviously but I have to give you credit for being consistent. It really burns me up when I see somebody on t.v. with a baby they got thru invitro talking about their "blessing from God" but how those of us who wanted their throw-aways used for research are "sinning" and violating "God's will". You never near them say they violated God's will for barreness and played God themselves to procreate.

My belief is that it is God that has the right to open and close the womb and that all these new methods such as invetro fertilization are wrong. I know where you stand so this is more a clarification on my position than a rebuttle.

Well I certainly respect your consistent position on this even if I disagree with it. What you're saying makes logical sense and doesn't smack of double standards.

This really amazes me. God gave us doctor's and God gave those doctor's brains to help the human race. What exactly is wrong with invetro fertilization. I mean, if God didn't want science to be able to do it, it wouldn't be done. Just like the Titanic, they said it was unsinkable and not even God could sink it. Yet on it's maiden voyage look what happened. God uses doctor's every day to perform miracles. Look in the past 100 years how far along medicine has come. If it wasn't God's will, He would have put a stop to it long ago. God is not antiprogress, if He was, He wouldnt' have given us such smart doctor's.

I totally agree.

btw - I want to clarify something. I see nothing wrong with invitro being used to get a baby; I was just saying I get angry when people make use of invitro when they need it for this purpose but condemn others when they want to pursue it further so maybe they can get some help too.

God gave us guns and nuclear weapons also. Does that mean we would be offending God somehow by not using them? Some of you should rethink this. God gave the scientists the intelegence to created biological weapons but that doesn't mean they the weapons themselves are go, so neither should we consider invetro fertilization different. It's not what we create or discover that is the test, its how we react to or use this knowlege that is the test.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
