I asked the question of why he did it, because that is what I really want to discuss in this topic.

The man claimed that something happened to him 20 years ago (some speculate his daughter, 6 yo died unnaturally) and he was getting back at God for that.

While that is a plausible explanation for the evil and deranged, I think he had another motive.

I do believe he blamed God for his daughter's death, but I think his deranged reasoning was to destroy the faith of the Amish community. Basically he was saying: Where's your God now?

Any thoughts?

I agree and there is NO logical explanation. The man was a father himself, so how could he do that to other children? We can only pray for all those involved. It's desperately sad.

I'd imagine he had alot of stress in his life prior to snapping. This is extremely depressing that certian individuals are resorting to such desperate and barbaric behavoiur because of thier discomfort and pain in their general lives and in hoping that these future potential individuals that crack have their issues extinguished prior to this type of fate.

I heard on the radio today that he molested 2 yound female family members 20 years ago and felt the need to do it again. He had planned on molesting those little school girls but the police arrived too quickly for him to carry it out.

I am not trying to ridicule you, I do not believe it was stress. He had been planning this for weeks. The wood that he bought was going to be used to bind one of the girls to the 2 2x4's.

1 2x4 had eyehooks spaced 10 inches apart (for the girls hands behind her head and the other 2x4 had eyehooks spaced 24-36" apart. You can understand why he would want those girls legs spaced that far apart.

Stress doesn't cause someone to plan the rape and murder of several young girls.

I find myself saying this alot only to wind up biting my tongue. I sometimes forget that we are to hate the sin and not the person. Under these circumstances I believe the man was not evil but posessed. There are simply too many of these shocking events occuring these days to chalk them up to coincidence or part of a trend of events that can be "diagnosed" away. Satans minions are hard at work preparing the people for the anti-christs comming. When events like these stop occuring the anti-christ will be the one to take the credit as if it were part of some miracle. These shocking occurances will become, as they have been, more and more commonplace and obviously more shocking until the anti-christ makes his apearance. Put on the armour brothers and sisters and keep looking up.

Is it posession or sociopathy?

I believe our society has been conditioned to devalue human life. 40 million + children are REP0RTED aborted worldwide. We are taught that life has no meaning, only random chance and a lot of time (to evolve) defines our existence. We are told that the weak have no place in our society. Euthanasia is acceptable. Religion, moral values, truth, rejected. It's getting worse everyday.

We are being conditioned to become sociopaths, where selfish desires are indulged upon and the only value to life is how much we value ourselves. No one else's life matters but our own, compassion is no longer a virtue, but a means to an end.

Maybe we are becoming posessed, because the protective power of the Holy Spirit is dwindling. Our Church is turning to the ways of man and not letting God have full control over our lives or the decisions made on behalf of the Church.

This is just a microscopic view of things to come. Once the Holy Spirit has left the world, Hell will break loose and IT will devour the souls of the weak and wicked.
