I just wanted to shed some light on WHY Christians make every attempt to spread their beliefs.

It's because Christian's believe so firmly in the fact that there is an afterlife that consists of both Heaven and Hell and that there is an almighty God who loves us and does not wish us to go to Hell.

Obviously, Heaven is "paradise" and obviously Hell is a place of eternal torment.

The primary reason we tell others about our beliefs is so all will have a chance to be in Heaven.

It's akin to a stopping guard who tells children when it's safe to cross the street and when it's not.

It's because when someone dies, and if we know they are not a believer, deep inside, we grieve for that person's immortal soul.

It's because we love each and every person and we don't want to see anyone experience eternal torment.

It's simple really.

We (Christians) may not be perfect, but we do care about YOU.

You can argue over science vs. religion, whether you believe in God or not, whether you believe if Heaven or Hell exists or not.

You can debate Biblical doctrine until your blue in the face.

When it comes down to the nitty gritty - what matters is that first God, and secondly his followers; Christians, love you and your eternal soul.

Jesus Christ (whether you believe He was "just some guy" or the actual Son of God) loved man kind so passionately that He gave up His very life so that all persons might have eternal life in Heaven.

That's an amazing sacrifice from somebody who lived 2000 some odd years ago and was put to death in His 30's just because He loved everyone with every ounce of His mind, His flesh, and His spirit.

Whether you believe that Christ is "God" or not should not matter - He did what He did with your eternal soul in mind. This deserves respect, even if you believe His efforts were "misplaced."

And even if you believe that those who follow Christ (Christians) are "mis-guided", they still deserve some respect, because they too care about your eternal soul.

You don't have to believe. You can think it's all a bunch of myth and legend from antiquity if you so choose.

Please, just keep in mind - God and Christian's only have your well being in mind.

Grace to you all.

No offense, but this must be the 20th time I've heard that speech.

No offense taken.

I hope that after 20 times, you have some understanding where Christians are coming from them. :emot-prettywink:

Peace to you!

I've always known that. I've always appreciated it when it's been sincere.

It hasn't always been.

SoulGrind,

You are not wrong in what you say in your post, but preaching the gospel is not only to demonstrate the difference of going to heaven or hell. I'm inclined to use Jon.10 10 as a witnessing tool in that, Jesus came that we should have life and have it abundantly. When I turned to the Lord, it wasn't to stop me from eternal damnation, it was because I was broken and I was in need of having my life turned around. Heaven or hell wasn't an issue then.

Jesus said in Matt.11:28. Come to me all you who are burdened and heavily laden and I will give you rest. Brother, I was loaded down with guilt and shame,so I heeded His word and now I am humble and free from it all. The heaven bit is the bonus for repentance and receiving His headship as Lord. I'm not trying to sound picky, bro, it's just that I don't mention hell when I'm witnessing, unless I'm asked about it,...of course

Good post though, just the same SG.

cheers.

Oh, I totally agree with you - I was just trying to avoid all the doctrinal elements to express the reasons Christians are so adament about witnessing. It's because we love our fellow man, just as Christ loves us.

I really believe that you believe this. However you have to admit that when Christianity was beginning it was Paul that did the prosyletizing.

Are you of the belief that only Paul spread the gospel?

Every single disciple of Yeshua (including Paul) was given the charge of making disciples of all nations. Not sure how you could come to any other conclusion unless you were biblically illiterate?

Christianity is not something that Jesus wanted for everyone and that is another post I will add when I have time.

another biblically illiterate claim. It is a wrong assertion from it's very foundation. He gave His blood as a ransom for all

If you find out WHY Jesus spoke in parables you will know the answer and maybe more will become clear to you.

Because He was speaking to an audience who had 3,500 years of history...and they were supposed to understand the time of their visitation through faith instead of through sight.

what Paul preaches contradicts what Jesus said.

Not even once.

Another answer to you claim is that there is power in religion especially back then the govt and religion was the same.

Now you are speaking of religion. There is a difference but I don't presume you could understand it from your perspective so I'll just agree with you on this particular point.

There is also the money factor and wealth. Did you ever wonder why God always needs money? Today it is for buildings, salaries, prestige etc. Christianity makes fantastic promises but nowhere has anyone come back to confirm the payout. So there other likely reasons for why they prosyletize as much as they do.

God doesn't need our money. But we have been told that "where your treasure is, there your heart is also"

In other words, we all spend money on the things which are most important to us. Giving money to the work of the Lord will free your heart from the worries of this world.

And giving "without compulsion" is the key phrase left out of christianity today. If you are giving with an expectation of recieving then your "righteous" giving is like menstral rags.

It is a lottery mentality which curses and ails America. Giving from a heart of pure love is the cure.

Nice one, Ben

1 sentence promptly undermines the whole spirit of Soulgrind's post.

God will be wagging his finger at you too, probably for that post.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
