My friend I keep the T en Commandments to the best of my ability, but I do not do so to gain my salvation,I could never earn it nor do i derseve it. I keep the law for the Glory of God. Hope this helps. Love in Christ littlejoe

I agree with littlejoe, and I would add that a truly saved person has a strong desire to keep God's law, not because they have to in order to be saved, but because they want to. The desires of the heart, mind, and soul are completely reborn, which in turn gives us a strong desire to please God in every thing we do..

Jesus said to hang the law on these two commandments.

Love God

Love eachother.

Now, IF you love eachother- you will not steal, not covet, not murder etc.

So technically if you follow these 2 laws, the cover the 10 commandments.

we are not to live by the letter of the law because Christ took the law when He died on the cross as the final sacrifice. However that was not meant to erase the 10 commandments but ritual of sacrifice and offering for atonement of sin.

The 10 commandments can be covered by following the 2 that Jesus commanded love God and love each other. I don't think that the 10 commandments are any less important because of what Jesus commanded, as Gaiour stated if we keep those 2 then we most likely won't do the other 8.

I have heard people say that all you have to do is believe in Jesus Christ and you are saved. I'm not here to batter that, but if people go around and say just that. It just seems to me that they are saying you don't have to say a prayer or get the holy Ghost or whatever you believe. I think we need to be careful how we say it because even the devils believe and tremble. Their is a difference from believing with your heart and believing with your head. I just think it confuses sinners to say all you have to do is believe. The bible has said (paraphrasing becasue don't have bible with me) If you will believe and confess with your mouth you shall be saved.

Nicholus, what you say is true. It is not enough to believe, one also has to have a determination to follow Christ. Also, we have to have a willing heart to repudiate our sins; ---since sins must be left behind. Christ will save us, but never together with our sins.

We were born with a sinful nature, and if one has that nature only, he cannot get to heaven: he needs to obtain the divine nature in order to become the child of God.

When one looks into the "mirror" of the law, from it one can see that he is a sinner.

To believe in the Lord Jesus means to trust that He has the power to forgive one's sins. But Christ will not be one's Saviour, unless He also can be the Lord in his life.

When somebody turns to Christ with a penitent heart for forgiveness, and his will is set to follow Christ as His Lord, and he is determined to obey Christ, ----then the Holy Spirit regenerates this person, and in him the divine nature is born. The Holy Spirit takes residence in this new nature. This is the new birth.

All those things are needed in order that one could be biblically saved. But all that is God's free gift, and salvation is by faith alone through God's grace alone.

Good post, well put, thank you. I agree we can not work our way into salvation but since the commandments are ' good works ' given us by God and not our own fleshly works they are counted and accepted by God. James has quite a lot to say on this.

tech. difficulties...sorry

Do you think you could be a little clearer please ? I get the feeling you are not in tune with keeping the commands, if so what do you do with the scripts I mentioned ? ignore them ? wouldn't that make you a lawless person who pleases himself ? Not even our human judicial system would stand for that , hence our overflowing prisons. Wouldn't God like equal law and order in HIS realm ?

Great posts all, thank you so much.

Technically the 2 great Commands should work, but we only need to look at society to see that they don't. Prisons are overflowing, criminals walk our streets, enter our homes, terrorists threatening entire countries. Sick people are everywhere, ungodly behaviour even allowed to infiltrate church leadership and consequently turned a blind eye to in congregations.

I can't help thinking we need things spelt out in greater detail to get the hang of what exactly God wants us to do and how to maintain HIS standards and principles. The world is not reflecting them because we put our own interpretations on ' LOVE ' contained in the 2 Commands. Even the 10 are only a summary and don't tell us everything ,but are still better than left to ourselves confusing God's Love with ours.

I am not decrying the efforts of those genuinely wanting to please God but the state of the world in general. This should be of concern to all of us awaiting the return of Jesus Christ who will restore law and order with personal interpretations a thing of the past.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
