Hi, Natt. I'm brand new here, but I'm not new to seeing really big problems in churches. I think you should let the pastor know you will not tolerate the revealing of your confidences. Here in the U.S. such a thing is against the law. I would not at all recommend that you tell anyone of your history in order to beat him to it. If you give the information out, then you would have no legal recourse. If he gives it out, then you do. If you are firm with him about it, he will probably back off. In this situation it would not be wrong to consult an attorney. You wouldn't have to tell the attorney what the confidences were. It would be enough for him or her to know you are being threatened. Your pastor's behavior is 100% unethical and very cruel.

The pastor has backed down on that issue.

My issue with the church is about the guy who is in prison. He abused a child of mine. His brother hasn't been at church for roughly 8 months (he came seldomly before that maybe once every 2 months). He turned up at church recently and so I told some people what happened and why I felt uneasy with him being there. They tell me I need to come when I am going through rough times. I'm just thinking, 'when the brother is there?' No one is prepared to address the issue.

Such good advice from Salos. Hope all goes well for you as you do what is needed spiritually and physically. I truly believe that God will bless and help you as you do what is necessary. And certainly you do not need to accept the revealing of confidences. God bless and keep you.

Hi Natt!

That is truly a heart-breaking situation, and as I don't know the details or the people involved I hesitate to give any advice...

That being said, I would like to submit a couple of things for your consideration:

1. Remember that it is God's church, and He will take care of it!!! (Remember the church at Corinth?)

2. Romans 8:28 tells us that: "And now we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" (emphasis mine).

Take comfort in knowing that God has a handle on what is happening, and will use it to accomplish His divine plan!

Isn't it wonderful that we have a God that never says "oops, that was a surprise"? :emot-highfive:

3. Lastly, keep in mind that you are at that church by the will and leading of the Holy Spirit...Who knows, you may be the person that God works through during this time to cause revival in that fellowship...you never know!

Pray for your pastor, your church, and ask God for wisdom in this matter. He has promised that He will give you the wisdom you need (James 1:5), the Grace to carry on (Hebrews 4:16), and His peace to guard your heart (Philippians 4:16-17).

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
