...to tempt us?

We are all so aware that God did test/tempt Abraham as we read in Gen 22:1...But as I was reading the other verses containing tempt, it was all in the context man tempting God or Christ...We also say the Lord Prayer, And lead us not into temptation , but deliver us from evil" Mat 6: 13

Luk 4:13 "And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season."...We read about the temptation of Christ..Was there any involvement of Father God in this temptation?

I would request my brethren here, to please enlighten me in this regard...Does God test us knowingly? And does he allow the devil to tempt us as well?

God Bless

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you, except such as is common to man, but God is faithfull, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

James 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God", for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

Okay, I will add a little...

Deuteronomy 8:2

Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

Deuteronomy 8:16

He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

Just by these verses above, I gather from them that God certainly wants the very best for us, and He wants our very lives to be a testament to Him, successful in performing His will, and receiving all His blessings that He has planned for us. He never wants to harm us or to cause us to be discouraged and lose our faith, but these testings He sends us are individual and meant to strengthen us, and cause us to follow ever more closely after Him!

When we buck Him, we are destined to further testing in the same areas until we learn.

Of course, my FAVOURITE verse is Jeremiah 29:11...

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalm 26:2...

Test me, O LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;

Test me Lord and try me, and see if there be any wicked way in me! Amen!

This is what is called "tempting the Lord".

We have all sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.

This not an attack.....just thought it needed mentioning.

It's scripture! :)

Psalm 139:23-24...

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24 See if there is any offensive way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.

That is not what tempting the Lord is about.

I deleted my post, but since you brought it up.

Are you saying you are without sin?

Actually, Floatingaxe's statement was fairly accurate. Consider David's numbering of Israel. We have three statements in scripture regarding the agency that caused David to sin by doing a census:

1. David was personally responsible for the sin of numbering the people:

David's conscience troubled him after he had taken a census of the troops. He said to the LORD, "I have sinned greatly in what I've done. Now, Lord, because I've been very foolish, please take away your servant's guilt."

2 Samuel 24:10 CSB

2. The scriptures also indicate that it was Satan who was the direct tempting agent:

Satan stood up against Israel and incited David to count the people of Israel.

1 Chronicles 21:1 CSB

3. The scripture also indicates that God played a part in inciting David to number the people:

The LORD's anger burned against Israel again, and it stirred up David against them to say: "Go, count the people of Israel and Judah."

2 Samuel 24:1 CSB

So for one act we have three different statements regarding what "motivated" David to take action.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
