Spiritual Language (Tongues)

A spiritual language is something I've prayed for in the past but never experienced. Anyone care to describe what it was like when you first spoke in tongues?

Well it was a week after I Gave my life to the Lord, I was reading 1st corinthians 12-14, And I prayed for the gift, a minuite later I felt the Holy Spirit, and I was trembling, then I was praying to the Lord in a language I didn't understand. I've had the gift for 4 years, and it really does help me to meditate on the Lord.

Sounds very simple. I've asked for it several times, but....maybe I'm making it more difficult than it is. Thanks Josh13!

The Spiritual gifts were given to bring unity to the body of Christ. I was forced to remove some posts that did not reflect that unity. All biblical languages are known, understood, national, earthly dialects as evidenced by the Pentecostal classic Acts Chapter Two, Verses 8-11 passage in which all people heard the speaking in their very own earthly, national languages. Jehovah God understands fully all earth's dialects - He created them all - and He hears our prayers and praise in any earthly tongue even from the faintest heart. Even heaven's ANGELS spoke in known, understood, national & earthly tongues when they spoke in either Old or New Testaments. Even ANGELS! Does the Lord fail to guide, give direction to, and speak thru His ministering angel-servants to the sons of men on earth? Let not 'personal experience' be your only pillar. Underscore settled Truth as outlined in the Word "once delivered for all time" (Jude 1). Let ALL earth's languages be heard in magnifying Almighty God whether Anglais, Francais, Arabic, Espanol, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, Sign, on into the night! AMEN & AMEN indeed!

There is nothing meaningless in the words that the Holy Spirit uses in the voice of the child of God who He speaks through. It is powerful prayer that even the devil himself is confounded with. So be it, Lord!

The Word of God speaks of tongues as a means of edification of the believer. It so happens. there is no denying it.

scripture that talks about the "secret prayer language."

Any way you can let a third party in on it?

The good lady said, "The Word of God speaks of tongues as a means of edifying the believer. There's no denying it." WHERE PRECISELY does it state that (edited by moderator) is what comes from heaven -(edited by moderator), mind you! - and EDIFIES Christians? You sign off by saying fairly quickly,"There's no denying it"? Dear Christian friend, are you not listening? Of course, MILLIONS of Christian believers do indeed deny it in the Holy Name of the matchless Jesus Christ! That doesn't make any of us from any camp any less Christian, right? AMEN!

Don't ask us, consult your Bible. Paul tells us exactly that the gift of tongues, namely prayer, edifies the believer. It does nothing for any listener, which is right, in that it is a lesser gift for that reason, but rather it builds the speaker up. All good.

You may be not any less a brother in Christ, but you are sure missing out on the power of the Holy Spirit working through you to bring in the harvest.
