What we call 'Liberalism' today is really antiliberal. Liberalism properly refers to a political movement to decentralize government, ala Locke, et al. Today's 'liberals' WANT big government with ever increasing power to ensure economic equality for all (Marxism).

And, Arash, you must remember that Socialism is an atheist movement, absolutely antithetical to Christian belief. "Religion is the opiate of the masses," is the dictat of Marx himself. Marxist philosophy resulted in the murders of more than 100,000,000 people in the 20th century alone. How can any Christian support such a monstrous system? It is based on the philosophy of Dialectical Materialism (which, as any Christian should know, is an oxymoron to begin with!), which states that the whole of being and the universe may be summed up in: A). Matter, and B). Energy.

The Christian insists that God exists, and is beyond both matter and energy. In short, Christianity asserts that the universe and being are summed up by: A). Matter, B). Energy, and C). Information.

No thats marxism and communism. Socialism is diffrent, many christian socialists.

Socialism is more like this. Why should it be low taxes when the only one making profit of it are the rich. Poor people might save a little from a tax cut, but then there is health care, education like the university, dental care, wellfare for a single mother with 4 kids that cant work.

Evereyday people live better with socialism, the rich people dont, they might just be able to buy 6 big houses instead of 10 cause of socialism.

Leonard, Arash is correct, you confuse Communism with socialism. The apostles seemed to have little problem with socialism (Acts 2):

42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

That is not Socialism! Socialism is a political movement based on coercion. What what was happening in Acts was a move of G-d, within the infant church, and all participated freely as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost. Please don't wrench Scripture out of context to proof text an aberrant view.
