Shalom,

Obviously, this is an off-shoot of Andrew's thread because THIS topic does not agree with Andrew's premise and is totally different.

The question we are discussing is whether things that are created by man, for EVIL PURPOSES, such as Ouija boards or even gnomes or faeries should be something a Christian keeps.

Now, I am NOT saying that satan inhabits these things. Please understand me. I do not believe that at all. I do not believe Christians can be "possessed" by owning these things, or that the Christian is sinning or they themselves are "evil", however, the Scriptures are clear that there are reasons for Christians NOT to have items that are created by man, for evil purposes.

What are those reasons:

#1. They could cause another Christian to stumble, or impede a non-Christian from coming to Messiah.

Romans 14:

20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21 It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.[a] 22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.

#2. Because in our actions and thoughts, we can give place an opening in our lives to the devil:

Ephesians 4:26-28 NIV

26"In your anger do not sin" Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

ESV

26Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil. 28Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

KJV

26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

28Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Shalom,

There ARE such things as satanic and evil objects. I am not talking about demons inhabiting inanimate objects, but objects that are created for evil by man. These objects were not created by G-d and therefore have no G-dly purpose or function.

There are G-d created objects, such as trees, snakes, and things in Nature. Just because people used these for evil purposes does not make them evil in and of themselves. For example, just because some people used to worship evergreen trees and made idols out of them, that does not mean the Christmas Tree in my home is evil. Christians use this argument to say that anything once perverted is forever perverted. I disagree. Anything created by G-d, such as trees, is not evil of itself, because it was created by G-d.

However, there is a second issue here, one that has been overlooked in this discussion and is, in my opinion, the REAL discussion. This, imho, is the REAL issue of this and should be considered carefully and prayerfully and not dismissed and CERTAINLY not mocked!

There are things that are not created by G-d, but created by man strictly for evil and satanic purposes and have no G-dly purpose or function and in and of themselves, they glorify evil. The example here are Ouija boards, faeries and gnomes. These are worshipped as idols and represent only that. The lie that these are "cute and cuddly" mythical creatures is a lie from the enemy to get us to accept those things that are not G-dly into our lives by telling us they are harmless. Satan also tells us that HE is harmless.

So, we must differentiate in this discussion, those things that are created by G-d and are G-d's and those things created by man for evil and have no other purpose. The Ouija board brought up recently is another. It was created for evil and is used for evil and to say it is harmless is ignoring the truth. Not only is not pleasing to G-d, but it promotes the appearance of accepting evil to those who use these items, such as Wiccans. It is one thing to have these gnomes in ignorance, but once it has been shown that these things were created for and are used in idol worship, we should remove them, so as not to become a stumbling block for Christians, or those who need to be freed from the bondage of evil and are using these items.

We must be diligent and not bring into our homes and lives those things that are created for and used for idolatry, evil and satanic purposes. We must not however, look at the good things G-d created and say they are evil - they are not! Even if they are used for evil purposes, the fact they were created by G-d and G-d is not evil says it all.

Shalom,

Amen. If we know that something was created for evil purposes, we are sending a wrong message to someone by bringing these things into our homes.

It's like having a lawn ornament of a witch in front of my home. Why would I do that?

I would agree about ouija boards. They are not something Christians should have for any reason.

Indeed, these were created for evil purposes.

I disagree that garden gnomes and fairies were created for an evil purpose.

I, being surrounded by relatives involved in witchcraft, am very aware of the connection between witchcraft and gnomes and faeries. Satan seeks to deceive people. Gnome and faeries are very intwined with a religion that has very much deceived people...actually I will let this paragraph from a website I have bookmarked explain it for you:

http://www.spotlightministries.org.uk/newagefairies.htm

Evil spirits are like actors. They will take on any role that suits their cause or present climate. If people want angels, they will be angels. Departed loved ones? This is one of their best performances. Fairies? If that

Ouija boards are bought for the sole purpose of summoning evil spirits. It's wrong to have one in your home. I'd get rid of it. Statues of gods are smaller versions of a glorified figment of someone's imagination, made for the purpose of replacing our true God. It's wrong to have them in your home. As far as I'm aware, no one has built a giant statue of a fairy and worshipped it or made others worship it, even the little ones. How does that make a person stumble or make God mad, so long as you don't idolize them? If a person believes a fairy is alive, what else do they believe is alive? I consider THAT scary in and of itself. I believe all dolls are inanimate objects and should be treated as such, nothing more. If someone comes into your home and sees you have one or two pictures of fairies and it makes them wonder, explain these simple facts to them. If you have a hundred statues of fairies and pictures of fairies on your walls, you're going to have a bit harder of a time explaining this and, frankly, I'd have my guesses about you too, and who you worship.

Shalom rtwo,

You are welcome to disagree, but can you prove your opinion?

There is a lot of info out there that gnomes and faeries were created by people for the purpose of idolatry.

Can you prove otherwise?

And I'll say it again: witches and wiccans did not invent fairies. That they use them is of little import. They also use and worship nature. As we've established, it isn't a sin to plant a garden. Further, I've never met a wiccan (and I've met plenty) who sees a garden gnome as anything other than a fat little cute bearded guy with a pointy hat.

Shalom rtwo,

You can say it all you want, as it is your opinion, however, there are Wiccans who disagree with you.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
