Elizabeth Edwards vs. Ann Coulter

So if Edwards wins the Presidency (insert incredulous laughter here) and he has a disagreement with a foreing head of state, will Elizabeth run to the press and plead with the head of state to quit making her husband's job so hard?

Edwards knowingly put himself in the position to take personal attacks, whether they are right or wrong. Elizabeth needs to sit down, keep her mouth shut, and smile and wave when she's told.

(edited by moderator). Elizabeth Edwards is a very warm and gracious person. Elizabeth Edwards has every right to defend her husband against the mean-spirited rants of someone like Ann Coulter. I would expect Laura Bush to defend her husband if a commentator stated that he or she wished that Bush had been killed in the terrorist attacks. Really though, the problem is not Ann Coulter,(edited by moderator). The problem is that people who claim to be decent individuals actually give such an indecent individual a public platform to spew her hate.

Too bad Elizabeth Edwards isn't running for President.

What's wrong with a woman standing up for her husband to another woman? I think that was very noble of her.

Proverbs 31:11 Her husband has full confidence in her

and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,

all the days of her life.

We all know that personal attacks are painful and not necessary. Goodness, entire threads have been shut down because of the personal attacks!

Ann needs to read Proverbs. She holds a great deal of power with her words and on occasion, she does abuse that power. While I agree with much of what she says, she does not do it in a loving, kind manner and that is offensive.

Proverbs 12:6 The words of the wicked are like a murderous ambush,

but the words of the godly save lives.

Proverbs 12:18 Some people make cutting remarks,

but the words of the wise bring healing.

Proverbs 16:24 Kind words are like honey

forrest, using personal attacks on someone is not the way to show them that it's wrong and hurtful. . . :)

I am not making an attack, just an observation. (edited by moderator). For example, stating that someone that you simply disagree with should have been "killed by the terrorists", is indicative of someone who is a vile hatemonger. If I pointed out that a Neo-Nazi was a hatemonger, no one would be accusing me of making a personal attack against them. They would assume I was pointing out the obvious.

To call Bush a coward or a murderer would be a personal attack. (edited by moderator)

Ask yourself, would you say the kind of things about people you simply disagree with that Ann Coulter says about the people that she simply disagrees with? What would you think of someone in your workplace saying that they wish that a coworker would have been killed by the terrorists?

Here is her quote:

When someone (like Ann Coulter) stoops to personal attacks, that means they cannot intellectually debate the merits of their arguments. As evidenced by her books, speeches, debates, and everything else she writes, I have yet to see her intellectually use facts to argue something. Slander and lies as of yet mostly the fruits of her labour.

She is one of the people that makes Republicans look bad as a whole. Y'know, with the whole regretting terrorists didn't blow up the New York Times building, or saying that she "Isn't a big fan" of the First Amendment, or implying that if the death penalty wasn't in place she would have killed Michael Moore and she would be on death row, or the whole Invade the countries, Kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity quote, or saying that Women shouldn't be allowed to vote, or...

I'm sorry! The list is just so long! I'll stop, but only after this last one.

I don't understand why still think Coulter is a reasonable individual. I mean, beyond the obvious political stuff, what's she doing in a black cocktail dress every time I see her?

Actually, Ann is highly educated and has found a niche and is making a killing with her articles and books. I would say that the fact you people are discussing her as though you know here is evident she has made her point. Also, forrestkc, the quote she made about John Edwards being killed by terrorists was a rebuttal of a statement somebody made about her earlier. You can find plenty of Coulterisms without taking them out of context. I'm not really defending her, she is not one of my favorite columnists. But I defend her right to say what she wants.;

No, it was a follow-up to a comment Bill Maher made in passing that if Cheney had died, lots of troops' lives would have been saved. Had nothing to do with Edwards.

Yes, that's right. I glanced at it a few days ago but forgot the details.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
