Can someone explain spiritual warfare?

What is it? How do you do it? What is the enemy? I'm sorry but I've heard the term but never recieved an explaination of what it is? Can you offer a kind of "spiritual warfare 101" for me please??

The first example of spiritual warfare in the Bible is where Job defeats Satan by his obedience in the face of suffering and temptation to deny God.

In another place, Daniel has been praying and fasting and the prince of Persia was trying to hinder Gabriel from coming....and the archangel Michael was fighting

There is a spiritual battle going on in the heavenlies. We have a part in that battle through the power of the Holy Spirit. We defeat these demonic forces with prayer, fasting, worship, and personal santification.

Ephesians 6 lists some of our weapons.

We all go through spiritual warfare. You will find that at the times when you are getting really close to the Lord you are tempted more by worldly things, or you have a lot of bad things happen all at once (a death, or sickness, loss of job, constant car problems, constant financial troubles, increasing arguments between believers or spouses...etc.), it's Satan (the enemy) and his demons (more fallen angels) as well as circumstances trying to get you to take your eyes off Jesus.

What is spoken of in Ephesians is the Whole Armor of God found in chapter 6 verses 10-20.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (the enemy). For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ,(the enemy) Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

There are two christian fiction novels written by Frank Peretti that may help you understand the enemy a little bit better and the spiritual warfare we go through as Christians, they are "This Present Darkness & Piercing the Darkness". I hope this has been of some help.

i've read this present darkness, but not the second one. tygra, you will love the book. it took me awhile to get into, but once i did, i couldn't put it down!

I'm afraid I can't help you Tygra because I don't understand much of it either but, for what I've seen and experienced during my time in here, I think it has something to do with Shadow_To_Be throwing pies at my face and the so-called "christian right" slandering my name and throwing mud at it
