I agree cats women wear shorter hair for a number of reasons, illness, job safety etc. I don't knock them at all and it does not mean they are any less modest or respected than a long hair woman. :)

Wow, this thread has been inactive for a while... :t2:

I am a "baby" Christian of almost 8 months, and I am convicted to wear a headcovering while praying. I also often wear one outside of prayer. What confuses me is why there is such heat sometimes over the types of covering (I think this was also asked in a previous post). There is nothing in the Bible that says it has to be a particular type, just a headcovering. So here is my question: For those of you who headcover (or really anyone): What types do you wear? Is there any type not acceptable?

I myself usually wear a kerchief, that covers the top of my head. I also sometimes take a neck-scarf (the long thin ones) and tie it either over my head or around a ponytail in a bow (it covers a little of the back).

Thanks,

Sarah

I do believe the scriptures say women are to have head coverings on when praying, or prophecying, and men should not, I also think it is good for women to have long hair, and man short, because this is natural, and I think when people get away from what is natural, they start to sin, meaning they are not choosing to have The fruit of The Spirit. The scripture about contention I believe to mean, if someone has contention, well the church does not, and neither do we, meaning the apostles. So I think they are saying if someone is contentious about this that is not our custom, and neither God's churches, so they are still saying in this understanding, people should do what is said, if they want full fellowship with ELoHeeM(God, Theos, Dios, Allah).

I have read many commentaries about this. Apparently, depending on how the Greek text is read, the "covering" here might refer to the woman's hair. In other words, she should have her head covered with long hair. (This is what the footnote in the NIV text implies.) Since the text does not suggest any other type of "covering", I am inclined to believe that this is the intent of the writer.

But read the whole chapter, and this doesn't say anything in particular about corporate worship. It has to do with "praying and prophesying". These are things that the people in the pews don't generally do in a regular worship service, except in bowing their heads while someone leads them in prayer. I don't know about you, but I pray to God every day at home.

I know of many churches that require all women to wear a hat to church. And many of the women spend hundreds of dollars to find the right "church hat", always trying to outdo one another. So it becomes a fashion statement, and there's an ungodly spirit of competitiveness. I'd rather see them not wear hats at all, if this is going to be the case.

But there's a broader message in this chapter, and we shouldn't miss the forest for the trees. Social order, orderly worship, and the proper roles for women and men.

I think the sisters of the catholics do this the best in all the Christian circles, but I think the women in Islam even do better by covering everything except for there eyes, yet, also some sometimes choose to cover even there eyes, along with everything, I mean Christian women, or those who believe in Christ, I am not defining anything more then that. I do believe when the scripture says to cover the head, that, that means the whole head including the eyes, while praying, and prophecying.

The person who said the hair, is the covering, in saying the Greek says that, well the hair is mentioned as showing what is natural, but not showing, what is the teachings of what is being taught, in my belief.

For instance the teaching of resurrection for the dead, was also showed to be true, by Paul saying something which people are not instructed to do, that is baptisms for the dead.

I think it is legalism. plain and simple. Different culture, different time. I am not wearing a hat in church.

I haven't read this entire thread for a while. The Bible say that our husbands are our covering? Jesus is also our covering and our husband's covering.

For a husband is "head" of the wife as Christ is "head" of the church.

(Ephesians 5:21-26).

Before we get started on submitting to the husband, we are not below and we are not above our husband. We stand side by side. We were taken from his rib and not from his toe.

Our husband is our head if he serves the Lord and does as the Lord would have him to do.

Silly question. Wolves don't have round heads.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
