You could extend it. Wouldn't that be romantic!!!!! But what if one does and one doesn't?

I think its a absolutely good idea. It provides for keeping one on their toes! If would stop this "now ive got you cause i got that ring on you" syndrome and people wouldn't take it for granted that marraige is forever. Its not! it can end without notice! IF it expires every 7 years, your going to be careful to make sure you don't go and ignore the other person, treat them badly ect..... Yeah i'd vote for a expiration date. I know i would be MORE careful to do things that will build love in the marraige.

Marriage was designed by God to be for life. I'd tend to go the other way. I'd eliminate no-fault divorce and make it as difficult for the initiate of a divorce as possible to collect alimony without first proving cause. If some guy's beating his wife, she could take him to the cleaners... if some lady sleeps around and that results in divorce, no alimony. Divorce is too easy... a seven-year expiration would make it even easier.

Why would you want the government defining your relationships? when haven't they defined it. Marraige as were talking about is nothing but a business contract. Its enforced by the government solely for the division of assets if the contract is broken. Marriage was designed by God to be for life Almost correct. A marraige put together by God is designed to be for life. IF its not put together by God, its destined to fail. I'd eliminate no-fault divorce and make it as difficult for the initiate of a divorce as possible to collect alimony without first proving cause. I would eliminate alimony. each person is responsible for themselves. if you don't make it, then take care of yourself. If some guy's beating his wife, she could take him to the cleaners... why? just put his butt in jail and divorce him, sever all ties. if some lady sleeps around and that results in divorce, no alimony. I don't believe a woman deserves to get alimony anyway if alimony for the husband isn't equally given in divorces. what makes a woman so special that she should get alimony if she divorces?? Divorce is too easy... a seven-year expiration would make it even easier. ROTFL, no its not too easy! its very difficult to get. Why should we have to wait two orthree years to get divorced if you do not love that person, do not wish to be around that person, then you should be able to sever all ties to that person and do it quickly. I don't recognize state marraiges as marraiges that God intended. their nothing but a contract that can be kept or broken. IF you truely are married in the sight of God, it can't be broken because one its made by God, two you love your mate because without love a marraige is not possible, three people wouldn't do anything to destroy that marraige that God put together. I remember when this used to be the case, before no-fault divorce. I would eliminate alimony. each person is responsible for themselves. if you don't make it, then take care of yourself. I don't believe in alimonmy either. Divorce is too easy... a seven-year expiration would make it even easier. ROTFL, no its not too easy! its very difficult to get. It's easy if it's agreed upon and you can decide who gets what amicably, and if there are no children. I don't recognize state marraiges as marraiges that God intended. I agree with this. I can't believe every wedding ceremony is considerd a marriage in God's eyes. Many marriages are based on lust, rebellion, and being way too young to know what they are doing, or to realize the lifetime commitment they are making. There are alot of variables to consider, for example, cultural differences, family beliefs, breeding and of course hirachey where money marries money, musicians marry musicians .... and so on. Personally I believe marriage ought to be an intelligent decision. Afterall, if one is to remain with the same person for over 60 years, then it makes sense to be with someone you'd be happy to wake up to every morning.
