SPIRITUAL DIET

It has been my habit since 1994 to practice a vegetarian diet. It is not necessary for me to take life to sustain my own. I believe that all life is sacred from the house fly to the human. God is the Creator of all Life. In the beginning God created all life vegetarian, both human and animal. It was not until after the flood that living beings began to eat meat. I do not preach that it is sin to eat flesh but I will say in this day and age it is unwise. God's original design was a vegetarian diet until sin entered the world and death by sin. I choose to honor God's original design with my diet. I do not have the ability to eat animals. I cannot do this in good conscience. I have offered my diet to God as a perpetual fast. I have chosen to honor His original diet and to reverence the life He created. In order to eat an animal she must first be dead. It is not wise to devour death.

Sin and death are intrinsically combined. The result of the corruption of sin is death. The eating or not eating of meat has nothing to do with the problem of death resulting from indwelling sin.

Brother, good for you that you chose such a path, and have stuck to it for a long period of time. But which is the goal of your Christian life - to promote Christ or to promote a certain way of living?

Sorry, James....but from the time I was a kid, I hated eating my veggies...and still do. I force myself to eat some veggies and fruit is okay.

I really enjoy a good pepperoni pizza...

Oddly, I have found that my body functions better if I include chicken in my diet. Don't know why or how, but that's what I have found to be true - for me, anyway.

Meat is a great source for iron, which is essential in the production of red blood cells. Although iron can be found in other foods, the human body can more easilly absorb it through meat. Eating meat also helps in the absorbtion of iron through vegetables.

Another fact, found through the Atkins diet, is that Americans in particular consume in excess of 3 times the number of needed carbohydrates per day. The increase of carbohydrate consumption in American's diet has caused a host of serious medical problems including heart problems, hypoglycemia and diabetes, and weight related issues. It's not the meat that's killing Americans, it's the breads! Pure meat has 0 carbohydrates, whereas all grains and processed grains (breads, cereals, etc.) have the most, followed by dairy, and then vegetables.

During the 1950s the average American diet consisted of two eggs, bacon, toast, and a glass of milk every morning for breakfast. Americans ate as much as 2 to 3 times more meat than processed grains in the 50s than we do today. In comparison fewer people suffered from obesity and obesity related health issues than we do today. During the late 70s to mid 80s period nutritionists, and health advocates condemned the eating of red meats and fats. As a result Americans increased their consumption of processed grains and vegitables, and practically shunned red meat much the way smoking is being shunned today (I'm not saying at all the smoking has any health benefits, mind you). What we wound up with was not a happy healthy society as we once invisioned, but an overweight, sluggish, unhealthy society. And people are still today believing that red meat is the worst enemy of a healthy lifestyle. This is JUST NOT TRUE! All meat is part of a healthy lifestyle.

Sounds kind of like the Hindu's in India that are starving and won't eat the cows that are all over the place.

What was the verse which Paul spoke regarding those that abstain from meat? I am at work and without my Bible. :b:

There are a lot of hormones, antibiotics, etc. in today's meats (unless you raise your own). But then you get pesticides and such (and possibly genetically engineered produce) from your veggies and fruits. So unless you grow your own, nothing today is as healty as it was many years ago.

Yeshua (Jesus) ate fish and almostly certainly lamb. When the heavenly visitors came to Abraham he killed an animal and they accepted it.

Having said that I also do not think we will be eating animals in the eternal future when death is done away with. When the curse is lifted I think all, including animals, will benefit. I agree that originally God's plan was for people and animals to take their nutrition from plants and fruits.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
