The fact the Obama's father is a Muslim is reason enough not to vote for him. Consider the situation if Muslim extremists ever kidnapped the elder Obama and used him as leverage to get the President of the United States to things for them. Sounds like a "24" scenero, but it's possible.

Marnie, you are smarter than this. Before you guys slander someone actually get your facts straight. Obama's father was raised Muslim. He became an atheist. He died in a car wreck in 1982.

I looked into the story, and some sources say he was sworn in on the Koran and others on the Bible. As a matter of fact, the story originated with Edwards supporters. You may not realize it, but Hiliary supporters have been the ones proping up the Muslim angle and using his full name, Barak Hussein Obama. If you believe this to be slander, it is members of your own party spreading it.

Amazing, the rabid right that spreads these lies, amazingly, tries to attribute them to Democrats. Essentially, you probably heard the rumor that Obama was a Muslim and was sworn in on the Koran on right wing talk radio or some wingnut rag (probably worldnutdaily or something), and then from similar sources heard that it started with the Clinton and Edward's campaigns.

If this is not a case study in popular right wing mythology than I don't know what is. Sometimes you guys are so divorced from reality that they could call it a psychosis.

So your slandering a Christian man as a Muslim on the basis of an email. Simply because its an email it must be true. So say I took a picture of Bush and sent it up to the art department to have them photoshop it to look like he is kneeling to a pentagram and then sent it out in a mass email. In fact, lets say I took our email servers here and pushed it out to as many addresses I could in a day, say 100 million a day. And in that email I put for the subject: "FW: Secret RNC Photo Depicting President Bush engaging in Satanic Worship" and then went on to invent a huge story in the email tying his family to a long line of Satanists. Even going so far as to throw things in there like "he has 666 stamped on the underside of his shoes" and so on and so forth. You know, just any kind of garbage I can come up with, the more outlandish the better, then I guess that would be pretty valid in your book. After all, its email sent to a bunch of people, so it must be true. And since it says "secret RNC Photo" it must be from Bush's opponents in the Republican Party and not from Democrats. You know, thats what it would say.

I guess if our daughter ever wants to run for office she will have people like some of you smearing her as a Buddhist. After all, as my wife said, the lesson here seems to be, don't give your child a non-English name if you want that child to have any hopes of holding a high political office. With a name like Harper Qiong, and having spent the first 4 years of her life in China. Obviously in some of yall's book, she would have to be a Chinese Communist Sympathizer and a Buddhist.

This is sad. It really is. Here we have two candidates that have a good shot at their parties nomination. Obama and Huckabee. This country would be so well served for its electorate to get to chose to between two decent and honorable men like that. For the first time in I don't know how long, we could actually have an election where we got to choose on the issues rather than on the lesser of two evils. Two good men, and one of them is already getting trashed on Christian forums, not because of his position on the issues, but simply because of his name.

We would not tolerate for a second slanderous posts about our favored political candidate so why should we tolerate a discussion based on perception? We can't so I have to close this thread...

I do not know where Obama's sympathies lie but I do know where he stands on the issues and that should be the focus of any discussion regarding his candidacy.

No one has done anything wrong here, by the way. It is okay to ask questions. We just have to be careful that we do not bear a false witness based on perceptions, rumor or inuendo. The best thing to do is get the facts, stick to the issues and make an informed decision.
