A mutation is when there is a copying error in the DNA when a new cell is formed. Think about it as though you're photocopying one sheet, and then you're photocopying the photocopy, and then photocopying the photocopy of the photocopy and so on... if you do that for long enough, then eventually there will be a mistake in your copies. Maybe the machine makes a mistake, and makes a "d" look like an "a" or maybe you accidentally spill some tomato sauce on one of the copies before you put it in the machine. These copying errors are analagous to a mutation.

Micro evolution is basically another word for "small-scale evolultion" and macro evolution is another word for "large scale evolution". Large-scale evolution is hard to see, except on the scale of viruses and bacteria, since the period of time it takes is longer than many human generations.

My main reason for your understanding of a mutation was to know if we were on the same page. I am still not sure of that. You listed as examples of a mutation blue eyes and lactose tolerance.

i would have thought (and i could be wrong) that they believe in evolution coz its its easier or atleast more plausible to beleive in nature then it is to beleive in god. for e.g i have a friend who doesnt believe in god and we were talkin about the dinosaurs and his response was "hang on you're askin me to not beleive in things that we have actually physicaly found underground but to believe that a single powerfull being created the entire universe" lol i was like "umm yeah" so i can see his point but what should really matter is what YOU believe as we cant answer for anyone but ourselves. i have my faith and it will not waver.
