Ok.. for the past 8 months or so, I've been at a college i hate, doing a course i dont really want to do and at a job where i feel worthless and like no matter what i do in it, i will always just be 'that girl that sits in the corner' and nothing more. I'm not asking for big things, i just want to gain a little recognition for the work that i do and feel that i am actually being noticed.

I've been looking for a new job for a while but there is nothing available where i live which i am qualified for (it would appear that no one wants an office monkey at the moment) and i cant leave college until i have a job.

The majority of my friends/family think i am happy at college (which im not) and at work (the truth being i like the job i just dont like feeling as if i could not bother turning up and they wouldnt notice) and i find it quite hard to talk to them about this for various reasons.

At the moment i wake up every morning dreading going in to work/college and come home every evening grateful that another day is over but dreading having to go back the next day and it is really bringing me down. I feel like i'm trapped and there is nothing i can do about it.

I've prayed a lot but it doesnt seem to be getting me anywhere.

How many times have you changed your major? :t2:

Seriously, I don't know how much I can help you, but I think I can at least give you some idea of how to get out of your rut. You know what the simplest way to touch the Lord is? Just call on His name!

If you wanted to get my attention from across a crowded room, you would have to call my name out out. You would call and I would come. The Lor dis the same way. We don't need formalized prayers so many times. Most times we just need to contact the Lord from our innemost being. Just by calling on the Lord's name, we can contact Him, and get Him. We can call on Him in the car, at home, in the shower, at lunchtime, during breaks in our day - anytime at all. We can call on Him out loud, or we can call Him in quiet, we can even call on the Lord in our being without saying anything. This is setting our mind on the Lord rather than on the worries of our day. The most essential thing in our life is to contact the Lord. Calling on Him is the most simple way to contact Him. We can call, "Jesus" or we can call "Lord Jesus." It doesn't matter, just as long as we contact Him.

The Lord knows what troubles us. He knows what is deep in our heart. He wants us to turn to Him in everything. Whether we are happy, sad, heavily burdened, or light of burden, He wants us to just contact Him. When we contact the Lord He gives us peace and rest, He gives us joy and happiness.

There are other ways to get out of your rut. You can change majors a hundred times. You can ask your boss for more stimulating work. You can do all sorts of things to occupy your mind, and to occupy yout rime. But ulimately all these things will fail. You will find yourself back in another rut. But contacting the Lord can make everything fresh and new, because the Lord is ever new. He is always fresh and new! Why not try just calling on Him when you get into your rut. I think you will find that regular contact of the Lord Jesus during your day - spending time with the Lord - will help to make your situation very light.

A.W. Tozer had a good quote in my devotional today:

The truth is that God always answers the prayer that accords with His will as revealed in the Scriptures, provided the one who prays is obedient and trustful

What precisely are you praying for? Are you listening for all possible answers? Are you resisting something? Not trying to make you feel worse, just trying to help you discern how to move forward.

No matter what, God wants you to be filled with His joy, so He definitely has something in mind for you.

you could always get a low paid job and work your way up to managment

or join the military(at least you wont be bored enough to have time to ponder on wether you like it or not)

i may get severely criticized for this... but i have two teenagers and secretly hope they never go to college! colleges now are so full of anti-christian, extreme-left philosophy that i am afraid my kids will be brainwashed in such an environment.

my oldest does intend to go to college, after she finishes her time in the Marine Corp. i just hope that the military will instill her with the core values that she rejected at home so that she'll withstand the onslaught of moral and integral deviancy that is encouraged at colleges.

Have you considered going for a job and pursuing your studies via distance learning or nightclass in your own time? You can start it when you have decided what you want to do.

Have you considered taking a year out to "broaden your experience"?

What about vocational training?

Some of my friends have done this and it has worked well for them.

If you do not like the career path you are on, you are better to change sooner than later as the longer you leave it, the harder it will be. Do not fool yourself into thinking you will get used to it, as you never will.

I've been in that situation myself, in a job that I hated, but you just have to keep at it (after all, you still need to be able to pay the bills) and always keep looking for a new job. I used to keep a payslip in my wallet then which I would use to remind myself why I was there. Keep looking long enough and you will find something better.

Like God-Man said; Have you ever thought about changing your major on something that you would like to do more? Obviously, you dont like the career you have choosen, so, maybe pick one that is more "you"

God Bless you now and in the future!

Russell

Ok... all good suggestions but i cant change the course because i really have no idea what i would do if i wasnt doing this and i have been praying for months and really getting nowhere and this is seriously bringing me down.

Plus, of course, my CV would look really bad if i'd attended 3 colleges and only been at my last 2 for only 7 months (ish) each.

To be honest, what ive said so far barely scratches the surface but i really dont want to get into details because a lot of it is pretty complicated.

OK, so if you are going to stick at our course, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to do that as a job afterwards.

It is as much evidence of your ability and you can always change career later.

I vote for the vocational or technical training if that interests you. The military is also an excellent suggestion as you will have access to a ton of advanced training, benefits, etc. The military will also help in building character, maturity and integrity.

And keep praying for guidance, strength and peace.

Good luck sis,

John

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
