I booked a Disney Cruise for the end of September. Anyone ever been? Experiences? Stories? Advice? Tips?

Do share!

I've been looking at cruises myself. Did you book an outside cabin or inside? Does anyone know whether or not the windows open in an outside cabin? Or do you have to book a balcony room to get fresh air?

Barracuda, what's the itinerary?

Never been on a Disney cruise! However, I did go on a cruise once and it was so much fun!

Where are you going?

I booked the 4-day cruise that goes from Port Canaveral to Nassau, and then to Disney's little private island deal.

I've been on 3 cruises in the past and trust me, you book the cheapest room you can get, because on a cruise you never stay in the room. The room is for sleeping and changing and little else. So who cares whether you can see out the porthole or not. I booked an inside cabin with no window for that reason.

To answer the question, no you cannot open the porthole in your cabin, and unless you plan on blowing $2,000 per person for the room with a view you don't get to open the window. But that to me would be a waste of money. If I want to smell the ocean air all I have to do is go upstairs and walk out on the deck.

I was just wondering if anyone had been on this cruise before so as to see what their experience had taught them.

Thanks!

Thanks for the answer barracuda, however, the ones I am looking at are 700.00 per person for a balcony. ( on sale ) and I need the air not for the smell of ocean air but for slight claustrophobia. Also, we retire early to read and talk, so the room is very important to us. You know, different stokes and all that.

I have never been on a cruise but I have been to Nassau. However, it's been 15 years and there have been lots of changes. I would like to see some of the areas at the Atlantis resort. The shark tanks and pools and such. I did enjoy the straw market at Nassau. And we ate at a local restaurant called Tony's Pub. Was a fairly long taxi ride (if I remember correctly) but they had absolutely the best lobster! yummmmmmm.

Anyway, we've been looking at Alaska cruises. I do better in cooler temps. :D

Enjoy your cruise!

I wouldn't mind going on a Christian Cruise for fellowship and fun but I wouldn't spend a dime on Disney. I live pretty near the Disney attractions in Orlando and right now, the whole Gay Days Celebration - I'm a bit cold toward Disney. I wouldn't give them my business but that's me. I know it's still a lot of fun for the kids and I can't blame them wanting to enjoy the "old" Disney...which was great until Michael Eisner became CEO...

I do hope you have a good time.

I sent my daughter and son-in-law on a Carribean Cruise for 7 days on I believe Norweigen Cruises...and I paid their "Tips and gratuities" for them before they even boarded....so they wouldn't be bothered with those costs themselves.

I was told later that it seems like you're nickeled and dimed to death when it comes to tipping. They want you to tip for just about everything...from land escursions to whatever.

I made sure they had a room with a view that was supposed to be larger than standard size (you pay more too), but they told me the cabin was like a sardine can...so I can imagine the standard cabin is really small.

I was told by the travel agent that the cheapest fares are in January...which is when they went. The package I bought for them included air fare as well as their boarding pass and some other frills, *(Honeymooner's Special). :il:

I was going to say the same thing as Catsmeow! Hubby and I were sent on a cruise for our 5th year wedding anniversary by his family. We had a great time, so cruises can be a great experience! I am not sure I would go on a Disney one, though, because of all the gay days junk and stuff like that. It is so true about the nickel and diming ya when it comes to tips, as Catsmeow mentioned. I would pre-pay them as well, so you won't have to worry about how much spending money you need to reserve for tips at the end of the cruise. Hope you have a good time!

I have been on 2 cruises. A 4 day and a 10 day. the first was Carnival Cruise Line. They tried to get you to tip everyone there at the end, and they were basically a party ship. Not my scene.

Then we went on a family cruise with Holland America. It was marvelous! The specifically say no tips! You prepay all of that before you go. I am young and this is an plder crowd with this line, but it was quite relaxing for me not to have to be so up and going, it was very relaxed. I loved it! And the food, OH THE FOOD!

Most Cruise lines have their own island, they are beautiful, make sure you take sunblock and aloe with you! The sun feels like it is a block away from you.

We are going on another family cruise in 3 years, not sure where yet!!!

I always have had a port hole and enjoy having it.

The rooms on the ship are always going to be smaller than a hotel room or anything, but they have great amenities, plus someone turns down you bed.

While I sent my daughter and son-in-law to a cruise, I'm scared to death to go. I'm actually very concerned about sea-sickness and wasting a bunch of money on being physically ill for the duration of the cruise.

Also, here in Florida we constantly hear about every single outbreak of various flu's and other nasty illnesses that people get on cruise ships. If they get deathly ill on board, too bad...no refund.

when I was on my cruise with hubby, I had a sort of queasy feeling the whole time. I actually wondered the whole time if I was pregnant! I wasn't so it was sea-sickness, it wasn't too bad that I didn't enjoy myself, but I was aware of a slight queasiness.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
