Well, I got a phone call this morning from the head of the local Republican Committee (we also attend church with her and her husband) and she just happens to have an extra VIP ticket to see Sarah Palin speak in a town a couple of hours away from us and she wanted to know if my daughter wanted the ticket! Well, of course she wants it! So, Mandi gets a VIP ticket and my husband and I will also be able to get in to see her -- but not VIP. My daughter is so excited! I am so happy for my daughter that she gets a VIP ticket. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I'm sure she will be a LOT closer than my husband and I will! Yes! I will be sure my daughter has her camera and I will have mine. The lady who got the tickets for us told Mandi to be sure to take something for an autograph. She just may get close enough for a handshake or an autograph. My daughter is 18 and this is her first election. This is so exciting for her (and me). What a lady she is! I will spare all the details of how we stood in line from 5 AM until we were finally able to go into the auditorium at 7 am, but it will be something to tell my grandkids someday! As it turned out, the lady who got the VIP ticket for Mandi was also able to get VIP tickets for my husband and I. We sat just 10 feet from where she came out and walked down the walkway to the microphone! The speech was gracious, strong, and filled with truth. She is a humble person - she first introduced the "First Dude" (her husband, Todd) then went on to point out what John McCain stands for and what she stands for. She threw in her qualifications for the job of Vice President based upon successes as Governor of Alaska. It was a very good speech and I was/am very impressed with this lady. It was encouraging that there was so many people willing to stand in the cold of the wee morning hours to hear her (estimates of 7,000 to 11,000 people were in line).
