dear wwatch,

But, taken in context of what Paul is teaching, it is a continuation of his powerful teachings in other letters about the complete and total ability of the cross and resurrection to effect our justification and sanctification from the inside out without the addition of rules and traditions or works to complete it.

Hi wwatch  ;)

1) You say :

When I was not serving the Lord, I remember nonChristians using it to try to rationalize their sin.

lol ... but that's very true actually !

And also :

Since you asked the question, "Can everything be pure?" , maybe you have heard people use it this way and you thought, perhaps, there was something wrong.

*thinks* I don't think so. It's just that I think too much hehe all the time, questions flow through my mind because I want to understand everything. And btw sometimes I want that flow to stop :)

2)

We know that it doesn't mean that we can make something that is impure or ungodly right by saying I have pure motives.

That's right, it doesn't depend on our judgment but on God's. And that judgment depends on faith. The only way to pleasure God is to have faith. And we know God loves pure hearts also; we need to make the parallel.

And, notice that the only group that is mentioned by name is the v10 "circumcision."  These were legalistic ones who taught that you could only be truly saved and pure by observing lots of religious rules and the law.

Very interesting here. Indeed, and as you tell it lower in your post, uncircumcised do pratices that Jesus doesn't approve cause His blood made it. I guess we have to talk in terms of "curcumcision of the heart". That's what we need to be. Like you say :

It had the effect of reducing the efficacy of the blood of Jesus to cleanse us and purity us
 :lightbulb:

This said : the cross, the blood, and resurrection are all related to one word : FAITH. The more we have faith, the more things 'are' pure, for us, in our mind, cause we are not "tempted". Jesus could have seen the worst things with His eyes, but the Spirit that was in Him could be tempted. Impure things are just strangers for Jesus, and can't have effect in Him. But surely impure IS impure in itself, whatever we may think it is or not ... the Spirit says the truth about it. That's why it's only when someones is born again that he can understand what is evil and what is good. Non-christians easily say porn has nothing evil in itself.

but this purity FLOWS OUTWARD  from knowing Jesus and "renewing our minds" and "resisting Satan" and "serving righteousness", but we cannot get purity into us by simply following EXTERNAL rules and laws, it has to flow out of a mind and heart cleansed and made pure inside by submission to Jesus as Lord, the washing of the Word, and the sanctification of the Holy Spirit.

Cool brother, I find that very important also. I simply agree with you  :P

Now here's some more of what I think. Let us check out in Philippians 3:12-16 :

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained. "

It's the question of the "finality" or AIM we have in our life. In other words : do we know where we are going ?

It's VERY important to know why we life and where we go. We need to know the plan God has for us. Now, "can everything be pure ? " The answer would be : if our aim is Christ ! Only by faith, doing the will of God and His plan.

If that's true in our life it's impossible that things would be impure, for US, in our mind. We don't look everywhere. It's like if we always look FORWARD in our life, and NO TIME for stuff of darkness ! Thus even if we look impure, it cannot be impure for us.

Okay I hope you understood some of what I said hehe

See you wwatch ;)

Hi wwatch

hehe yes I see your problem, actually it's my french that made me do this fault. I meant when we watch with our eyes impure things in this world, it cannot be impure for us.

That makes me think also about the armor ... the shield of faith. We are IN the battle and on the battlefield but darts and arrows or how do you call it, cannot get to us. Well I'll stop here with my little metaphors lol :)

See you later

I am not ignoring your post....just in case you wondered.  I appreciated your response and understand your request for clarification about my position on the law.

I am preparing a response, but I am trying to keep it to this disussion specially since there is very good thread, as you know, dedicated to the law under the heading of the "10 commandments."

  So, stay tuned.             wwatch

AND TSTH,  thanks for your input.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
