The scriptures are just a portion of Christ's walk on earth. We do not know what was not recorded. In His full 33yrs on earth. But this scripture vs. 3 implies that God sent his son in the flesh to absorb the sins of the world at that time. Therefore, at his baptism with John, Christ also cleansed himself in the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

So, I think you and you're husband are correct in this topic. :th_praying:

Also Solman within the pages of Scripture we are given everything we need to know about Christ and

things pertaining to life and godliness. I don't concern myself with what is not written. I have enough trouble trying to figure out what is !

But I must say that I immensely enjoy attempting to learn..

Thanks again for your input! Sorry I am a bit slow to respond. It didn't twig unttil this morning, lol.

Ok so for you youngsters out there, it's an age thing :th_praying:

I see this as the Saviour was not made of sin, but that he took on the sins of the world for our sake to show us that we are not condemned in sin. The baptism was needed to show His obediance to God's requirements, at the same time showing the people that through baptism of complete consciousness and understanding that salvation is available to anyone who submits to the Father.

The baptism was also a release of the revelation of his Sonship and power of the Holy Spirit in His life to verify to him and witnesses the full meaning to His own conscious awareness to prepare Him for the cruxifiction that was needed to fulfill the first part of the mission that He was sent to do. To give us an example or record of these accounts for us for the last two thousand years. Until His second coming is fulfilled as the scriptures, or word of God given to the prophets for our edification.

I'm sharing my perspective from the searching and living of the Bible literally in my life. I'm concluding that we today have the same soul characteristics as the prophets have recorded. Please pray and search for the answer within yourself through Spirit guidance.

Sent with love in Christ, Michael

Michael, Thankyou for your response but you didn't address my question about what you were saying in regards to "Christ having cleansed Himself at His baptism" to quote your earlier post. If you could clarify pls because I really only was looking for your explanation of that part. Thanks.

In a word.. no

How can a Sinless, Spotless Lamb of God need spiritual cleansing? Or even renewing for that matter.

It was a revelatory act as well as an enduement of power from on High that propelled Him fwd in the purpose to which he was called.

I say this most respectfully but I'm trying to understand where you are coming from. Thankyou.

Sweet lady,

Another thought, at the baptism. Why did Christ, request that John baptize Him first, and not Christ baptize John first?

Did He feel that He was not fully worthy at that precise moment to give the baptism first? And gave John the comanding authority first?

Dear Solman,

I will have to have time to pull up Scripture references other than what is clearly stated in

Mt.3. 11-17

We are not called to philosophize Scripture but to rightly divide the Word.

2 Ti.2.15 and 2 Ti.3.16,17.

I take full responsibility for placing my own thoughts/ musings instead of using the Word as the foundation in this instance from the beginning actually. It's a good wakeup call. Thankyou!

My profuse apologies.

Jesus came to fulfill all righteousness and He Himself says that He does nothing except that He always directly obeyed The Father in everything. Jn.5.19,30.

I will trust that you will look up these references since I have to type them in by hand and I'm trying to save time and space. Thanks for your time and efforts. God Bless you!

Hi, recenlty my husband and I have been discussing about Jesus being very God and Very man. My question is what about his earthly pilgrimage. My husband maintains that He gave up his "godness" and that He didn't resume this until after His baptism in the Jordan River when the Holy Spirit came upon Him. I have trouble understanding this because I personally don't believe that God fell off The Throne when Jesus was born as a helpless infant. Didn't He still have all power then too?

I hope I'm making sense. Please give me Scripture references (at least two corresponding ones ) when you reply. Thanks! Looking fwd to learning more.. :bored-1:

You opened the post with this above. Why aren't my replies adequate. His earthly pilgrimage and gave up his "godness" and didn't resume until after His baptism, when the Holy Spirit came upon Him. I agree with your husband in this debate.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
