Way back in april i had a few dogs died From posioning (we still can't locate this guy) well i had a bad panic attack so i only got what dad said.Animal control pick them up and had a complaint about having to kill 56 Dog that day .Which got me to wondering about the pounds systems around here.

Adult dogs 7 days

Puppies 56 days (Acorrding What i heard from my brother)

Well i saw the channel 14 news by the Animal shelter ( no idea why) but I started to think about it and i asked my dad about this new foundation . he thinks it a great idea but there's a problem

Kennels

we are going to talk to mom about it but i think if we explain that dogs have short life in other kennels and they love it to stay alive what my idea is to get 20 dogs (thats alot of kibbles  ) set them up on a concret slab out back ( and get a good fence up to let the dogs play) and dog houses and bowls buy LOTS OF TOYS of course we are going to keep our 3 dogs

i would like ppl to post what they think of the idea

I a born dog lover

:il: Hi Yami....

What a wonderful idea....like kittyjo said check for local ordinances....make it a non-profit organization and you may have alot better luck...and also make sure that the dogs have something on the concrete slab so they can get off it when they want to...a dogs feet will sometimes become really dry and crack and bleed when they are on cement too long,

I have saved numerous animals over the years...from cats to dogs, squirells, birds. Its very rewarding, what your thinking about doing, it hurts a little when you find them a home, but knowing they will be loved helps alot.

We have an no-kill shelter near us, Belwether foundation, they are a wonderful facility, they do not put down any of their animals, they have this beagle who has been with them since they opened and hes still there blind in one eye and grey hairs, but he still greats everyone when you walk in the door, hes got the run of the whole place.

Love and Blessings,

Angel

OK, here's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Disclaimer - I had dogs growing up, and have had some since being married, etc. So pets are a great things to have around.

With that said, let me tell you why I am very synical of the whole dog industry in general.

1. Go to the pound and try and find a dog you can take home with children under 10 years old. Ain't gonna happen. Hmmmm, I grew up with dogs in the house, and have always had dogs around young children.

2. I have lost count of the number of "Nonprofit Dog Rescue" organizations in this area. They all want you to fill out all these applications, screenings, home visits, etc...FOR MUTTS!!!!! I mean, come on - what happened to going down to the pound and picking up a dog that was scheduled to be euthanized that next week anyway? All of these "non-profit" groups want at least $250!!! For a MUTT!!!!! Are you kidding me? And some of these dogs are like 7 and 8 years old!!!

3. I try looking in the paper around here for dog giveaways. You know the ads, "Moving, can't take dog with me - FREE TO A GOOD HOME." Hmmm, I haven't seen one of those ads in ages. Hence, we will continue to go without a dog in our home.

All of these trends tell me the following:

1. There are no dogs in need of being adopted.

2. These non-profit groups are not interested in adopting the dogs, but rather, they are interested in making the dog business their full time endeavor.

3. The value people place on dogs these days is almost worship-like. Pets are suddenly superior to human beings. We won't euthanize a dog for whatever reason, but we'll abort your baby.

Anyone else see a problem with priorites so far out of whack here?

Just my two bitter cents. My kids would like a dog in the house, but I'll be darned if I will jump through hoops just to bring one home.

Barracuda,

I can understand your frustration but there are reasons why it is the way it is...

Yes there is a need out there, I am a animal magnet, if there is a stay hurt or abused animal out there it finds me in search of help. I can't walk the streets without finding a animal in need. We are a disposible society from animals to children, spouses and the elderly...

But unlike people animals don't have much of a place they are often picked up and abused in various ways... Cats and dogs are being stolen and sold for scientific research, medical cadavors,as well as used for bait for the underground dog fight industry. There are also sick and cruel people who look to pick up cheap pound animals for their own enjoyment in expeimenting with tourture. Talk to some big city vets and ask what examples of abuse they have witnessed, it will make you sick and one on the rise is sexual abuse of cats and dogs.

The high cost of adopting a pet, helps to insure that the pet won't be 'disposible'. The reason they are careful about adopting out to families with young children is that so many get returned or dumped again because, "It just didn't work out". The money, time and emotion that is invested in rescue is costly but rewarding. The rescuer is responsible for that animal and it's future, if it gets returned to the streets, becomes diseased then it become everyones problem.

These people are not all fanatical, we're not talking PETA types here, many are also involved in volunteering to help the elderly in hospitals as well as the homeless... Many are involved in pet therapy services and promote working dogs for search and rescue or for the handicapped.

Animals/God's creatures give us so much and the unconditional love they offer is like a hug from heaven. Whenever I'm involved in a rescue I think of Jesus and 'what you do unto the lest of them you do unto me'. I think of these dear sweet God sent creatures to be one of 'the lest of them'.

 Wow barracuda....you don't ever see "free puppies" signs? We have them all over where I'm at....just down the road from us right now is one. I have to force myself to keep going :oww: we already have two dogs and two cats..and thats enough for us. Come on over to my house barracuda and we will get your kids a puppy...for free

I feel sometimes that the price to adopt a pet is expensive but for example a young dog was brought in to the belwether and had been shot twice by its owner while he was in a drunken stuper...this dog lost an eye and had to have its front leg amputated...thats not cheap by any means...and if the foundation had to pay all of this without donations or adoption fees they would have to close down.

Myself...no I don't adopt adult dogs, reason being that I have small children and I am a firm believer in getting a pet as a baby...so it is raised up with the children. I just can't trust a dog that is full grown with no solid history of its background with children. When my kids get alittle older that may change. I just can't take the risk that my kids could get hurt.

I also agree with you concerning some animal activists going way to far overboard...when there are other issues out there that if they put half of their effort into they could maybe make a difference. for example...my husband gets a hunting magazine.."Northwoods Water News" and there was a article in there about I believe "peta" donating money to terrorist groups because they thought it was inhumane to strap bombs onto donkeys and send them into crowded streets. that one made me shake my head. Don't get me wrong I don't believe in animal cruelty in any shape or form...but geez give me a break...

there just my two cents.....

Love and Blessings,

Angel

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
