  1. theyre demon influenced. stay away from them and pray for them. The devil will not praise God. So I can't say the folks are demon influenced. Carnal, maybe. Not using wisdom, maybe. A person has to be willing to receive the gift of God before it is given. I have seen many people with the gift of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, who speaks in tongues, simply lay their hand on the seeker's head and pray for them to receive the gift. The annointing is in the hand of the prayer, and many times the seeker's faith is built up enough in God to receive. It is a wonderful thing.
  2. Or'el, you know God too well to be talking like that. He understands what you are feeling. On the other hand, if you want to be baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, you got to put all thoughts of satan behind you. You have to keep your mind on Jesus and His word. You have to believe that God would NEVER offer a blessing to you thats cursed. Being filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues is going to cost you to step into a realm of faith that many will never venture into. Because like other things that we ask God for sometimes come easier to believe. Many say it not for todays church...you don't need to speak...or they just don't desire to allow Him to speak. And thats ok, the IMPORTANT thing is, has GOD PLACED A DESIRE IN YOU TO ALLOW THE COMFORTER TO SPEAK THROUGH YOU!! Thats all that matters. If you have this burning desire, God will put people in your mist to pray for you...or...at home in prayer God will do it. , and any where else as long as the desire is in you. Now for praying in tongues, I do it and it came about from hearing it was so. One thing about me is I know God for myself. And I went into prayer about it and He shared this to me. If you travel to France, what language are you going to speak? English right, that the langage that I carry everywhere I go because I know no other. He ask me then why would you be filled with the Holy Ghost who never speaks? At that point I said Lord I believe and He speaks. Now for the filling from the toes, I not debating because thats what he believes and I can't take that from him. But as I was being baptism in the Holy Ghost, I felt the filling coming from my feet up, I didn't ask why, because what I had been praying and believing, God could have chosen it to start in my nose, I didn't care, I knew God was doing what I had asked. I have prayed about that thought (filling from the toes) and the answer was given for ME (no on has to believe).. God ask when you stepped in the water at church to be baptism..feet goes in first...when you FILL your glass with water, you have to start from the bottom..thats good enough for me Acts 2:2- And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it FILLED the whole house where they were sitting. Act 2:3- and yes it does say: Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. Acts 2:4- And they were all FILLED with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. I'm not trying to change or make any one believe that things has to be done my way. All I'm asking is for you to know God for yourself and in whatever area you ask Him to lead you, be willing to take His hand and do just that. We have a God Who answers us concerning spiritual things. When He knocks at the door, we must fully be willing to open it and invite Him in. Be blessed (and you are), Joyful Excellent Joyful2! The only thing I can think of to add is the scripture that if one asks God for bread, he will not give him a stone. So if you are praying to God, believe that He will answer. The devil tries to HINDER prayer from being answered, but God is stronger than he.
  3. Heaven, because I want to see Jesus and thank him for saving me.
  4. or vice versa. Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death. Is it a literal or figurative lake of fire? It must be a literal lake of fire because Revelations 14:11 says that the smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever. A place where the resurrected dead will suffer forever.
  5. I really like the last quote, it makes a lot of sense to me! I've also heard that sinners have a little hell here to go to a big hell later and christians have a little heaven to go to a big heaven in. Your quote and mine are both true, paradoxically I think, as sinners suffer here without God to comfort them, they turn to other avenues to find fleeting happiness. Believers find joy and happiness in Christ no matter what tribulations they suffer.
  6. I would imagine the disciples did all they could before they woke Jesus up. The fact that it was a miracle for the glory of God is all I need to know. Not the could have, should have, what ifs, whys, etc.
  7. As an oldie but goodie, I loved the bubble-gum pop music that was out then...The Lion Sleeps Tonight anything doo wap, rock n' roll, soul music. I also loved Ricky Nelson, had a terrible crush on just all the 50's / 60's artists. Really into the Beatles. After I became a christian, I didn't want to listen to anything but christian music. I don't feel it's the unpardonable sin to listen to one evey now and then, I still get a laugh when I hear one of those songs, and memories never die!
  8. I don't believe in ghosts or spirits of the dead, only demons of darkness, fallen angels. My grandaughter, Lauren, was about 12 when she was at home alone with her teenage sister. All doors were locked and dead locked. They have a larger boxer who is very protective of the children. The mother was at work. Suddenly Lauren screamed like something out of a horror movie. The sister came running. She had seen a horrible man in her doorway. The sister checked the locks, and the dog was silent. She called my daughter who came home checked out the house. Nothing. It was hours before Lauren calmed down and quit crying. They had to take her to the dr. to get a shot to calm her down. The dr. said she was in shock and had been traumatized. I told my daughter to pray with Lauren, for Jesus to cover her with his blood and annointing the house with oil. Lauren could not describe the man except to say he was very very ugly and horrible. I hope your friend and her family gets saved. If you have a burden, keep praying.
  9. Miss Elly

    Sleep in Jesus.

When a person dies, whether christian or sinner, his body turns to dust. Dust is not nothing. God knows where each particle of dust for every human that ever lived is. Can he not bring them all back together in an instant and make it into a resurrected body? To the christan, a glorified body, to the sinner an industructible body made for eternal torment. Yes, it truly is a mystery. I trust God to take care of my "sleeping physical body" until it is reunited with my spirit.
  10. hahahahahahha! True. I used to work at a very fast paced job in a high-stress atmosphere. Someone made a comment that half the people in the office was on Prozac. Sadly it was pretty accurate.
  11. I dunno, you gotta have something to blow your nose on.....
  12. Sometimes we feel so guilty, we want to tell what is bothering us to the person we sinned againt (in thought). Confession to God is sufficient. Think how you might feel - if a friend came up to you and said (just a scenario), you know I have been guilty of hatred toward you, etc. etc. Why burden someone else? That is how I feel about it.
  13. A woman in our church suffered a aneurysm and die, our pastor continue to pray over her (as well the congregation in the back ground) and she came back. But I have never heard a person that has been "embalmed" (all blood removed from body) brought back, to that I believe it would be impossible. I guess God could bring back an embalmed body if it were his will.....I've never seen a dead person brought back to life. Hey, once I'm in heaven with Jesus, I don't want anyone calling me back here!
  14. It is not wrong to want to understand the things of God or question God about it. Remember this, the devil will not ever praise God. That's the difference between pagans and christians. Many people who claim to be spirit filled do not have the true spirit of God because God is love. Perhaps they shrink at your questions because they are ignorant of the scriptures and feel inadequate to answer. Or perhaps somebody told them they were filled with the spirit and they are not. Paul spoke with with tongues more than anyone else, so apparently it is a good thing and edifying for the individual and the church when it is done decently and in order. I pray you find what you are seeking.
  15. Right on, I agree with your post. The bible says to have no fellowship with the works of darkness, rather reprove them. Since the jews are blinded for a time to the truth of Jesus Christ, they are more or less in darkness. Yes, they do pray to the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, but still Jesus is the only door to the heavenly father. Yes, I do have a great love for Jews and enjoy reading everything about them, but I personally doubt I would attend one of their synagogues. Andy may have a god-given love for the jews and be able to reach someone for Jesus, who are we to judge? Look how much Paul grieved and cried over his brethren, the jews. Andy, my friend, just be led by the Lord in what you do. God bless.
  16. Upon reading jewish history and some scriptures bear this out, each and every household left a "lamp" burning all night long in their homes. The lamp was not to go out, the women in the household were to add more oil when it was low. So there would have been some light....don't know if it would have been enough. Apparently there was a difference in the Lord's eyes between self protection and downright murder, according to the scriptures. Nowdays a burgular would just as soon kill you as steal from you. Also, the jews carried knives and swords - it is possible that they may have used them, whether day or night.
  17. I totally agree. And I would never pen a topic title sounding like blasphemy. I have to say, I was VERY offended. Another topic title would have been more appropriate. My Jesus CANNOT lie and I hate the very implication / question. Anoth choice of words would have been better. Please do your research more carefully as well.
  18. Sadly, many well meaning people are completely in error - and worship the so-called gifts instead of the gifter. I wouldn't be jealous of their gifts, probably most of them are heavily annointed with their own human spirit. Many wouldn't know the real spirit of God if it knocked them in the head. First of all, God gives the gifts TO WHOM HE WILL, not to the entire church. You feel funny about a lot of it, because these people have deceived theselves into thinking they are surely God's chosen and they are operating in the carnal realm, not the spirit of God. Personally, I would not stay at that church. I feel pity for churches like that, it is so sad to see all the emphasis on the "supernatural" instead of salvation, healing and the fruits of the spirit. Will pray God leads you in the right direction.
  19. These "prophets" are looking to fleece the flock. God's word is free. Besides, think about it....do they send out copies of the same letters to everyone, once they get the money for the CD? Why would God have the same "word" for everyone? Face it, they have hundreds of name on a mailing list they send out - that's their way of selling.
  20. Funny....the disproportionate time spent talking about money ???
  21. If I were a young and beautiful woman, the last thing in the world I would do is enter a beauty pagent and face answering any of the "politically correct" stupid questions they give the girls. The judges are probably not christians themselves and so how can one expect anything less from them? I'm old fashioned I know, but I would never ever go on national tv with the teeny little bathing suits either. My son says, oh mom, you're overweight, old, etc. and couldn't wear one. I said son, I still wouldn't. I'm not judging here, but I think christians should be modest. We don't know the full story about Miss California. Maybe she had pressures we didn't know about.
  22. that would depend on your view of how the times end. true. if one believes in the rapture then how could devoted/true Christians be persecuted if they're gone? or we can always look at Revelations to see who will be persecuted. But then it depends on how one interprets Revelations. I believe in pre-trib and that after the rapture many people who were not ready to go, but know what happened will rush to the empty churches and truly repent. We do know there will be christians here because many will not take the mark of the beast. They will lose their lives for Christ.
  23. Well, are we talking about a curse word here and there, a hot temper, likes to drink a beer from time to time or sexual immorality, pornography, idolatry, etc? You get the idea. Going to need a little more detail unless you just are looking for something to call it quits? Not saying that it's what you are doing but if it is, I've been there and being honest with he and yourself is better. I'm a big believer in nobody being perfect but there is a line between being imperfect and flat out deliberately and willfully sinning. If you don't wish to share for more personal suggestions, just go ahead and say "Hey! I want you to know that I've loved spending time getting to know you these past few months (or however long) but right now, I really need to be single and work on my relationship with the LORD." Pray before you go into it and ask Him to prepare you to respond to the guy's emotions if he expresses any that are difficult to deal with. We all want to be careful not to hurt anyone's feelings but sometimes, we just gotta tell the truth. Going any further to protect someone's heart will only make it harder. It is up to a Christian to guard their own heart anyways. Not saying be rude about it but you get the idea. It's simple and you aren't lying because after all, you did enjoy yourself from as far as I can tell and heck, we will be working on our relationship with Him for a lifetime. As far as telling him a list of things you don't agree with, I don't have advice on that part. It's not my forte. Will be praying for you I guess in some ways im a bit nervous about falling in love with him and he ends up to be totally totally wrong for me. He tends to be verbal with his opinions, especially if he knows it will anger someone. And he likes curse ever so often. He said he went to church before back at his home town but wasn't so sure about going to some of the churches in town. Yet he said he would go with me one of these days. so far he hasnt because he had to work on sunday. He does look at a few movies and posters that have nudity in it but when he's around me he doesnt presure me into sexual immorality. lol we havent even kissed yet so I can tell he's atleast not forcing me to do anything. What bothers me mostly is that even though he's not pressuring me to sleep with him, I heard him talking that he wanted to do it with me. so im afraid that I'm going to later on in our relationship, decide to do that because I had trusted him during the whole time. plus he told me that that he once did drugs but hasnt much since three years ago. Im just nervous he may pick up that bad habit again and try to get me to do those drugs too. I agree that he should be told. However, you might mention that you are evaluating this relationship in light of your relationship with Jesus Christ Tell him you are unsure if he is the Lord's will for your life. Perhaps you sense that he is not very strong in the Lord, and you sure don't need the temptation of his weaknesses and failings. You can still care for him as a soul that needs prayer, but that does not mean you need to date him. Perhaps the Lord is trying to tell you to dissolve the relationship.
  24. I loved the Pilgrim's Progress, a John Hagee film. If anyone has read the book, it is great....my favorite next to the bible.
