  1. I believe the Southern Baptists have a racist past. I read that Southern Baptists who kept slaves were not allowed to be missionaries and eventually the northern and southern Baptists separated. I think they are just trying to right some past injustices. http://www.abc-usa.org/what_we_believe/our-history/ Origins of American Baptist Organization The issue of slavery reached a peak in 1845 when the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society determined that it could not appoint any candidate for service who held slaves and when the American Baptist Home Mission Society decided separate northern and southern conventions were necessary. The Southern Baptist Convention was formed in response. Northern Baptists remained organized as a group of societies until 1907, when the Northern Baptist Convention was formed to structure coordination of the societies’ work while maintaining the autonomy of constituent churches.
  2. 2 Timothy 3 King James Version (KJV) 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
  3. People rarely ask the question as to why God would even allow any human in heaven with Him. It probably comes down to a high view of self and a low view of his Holiness.
  4. The Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16:14-31) 14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight. 16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law. 18 “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. 19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ 25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ 27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ 29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ 30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ 31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ “ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ enter the last days' people who want to hear "stories" (especially stories from children) instead of just going to the Bible for truth.
  5. Salvation is of the Lord - Changing a heart of stone into a heart of flesh, which allows a person to believe and follow Jesus. Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Even faith is God’s gracious gift to His elect. Jesus said, “No one can come to Me, unless it has been granted him from the Father” (John 6:65). “Nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him” (Matt. 11:27). Therefore no one who is saved has anything to boast about (Eph. 2:8-9). “Salvation is from the Lord” (Jonah 2:9). Decisionism in Christianity is the belief that a person is saved by coming forward, raising the hand, saying a prayer, believing a doctrine, making a lordship commitment, or some other external, human act, which is taken as the equivalent to, and proof of, the miracle of inward conversion. It is believed that a person is saved through the mere means of external decision and that performing one of these human actions also gives sufficient evidence of regeneration. Many who do not use an "invitation" still hold a form of "decisionism" that Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones called "Sandemanianism" (Banner of Truth Trust, 1987, "Puritans: Their Origins and Successors"). In contrast, Conversion is the result of that work of the Holy Spirit which draws a lost sinner to Jesus Christ for justification and regeneration, and changes the sinner's standing before God from lost to saved, imparting divine life to the depraved soul, thus producing a new direction in the life of the convert. The objective side of salvation is justification. The subjective side of salvation is regeneration. The result is conversion.
  6. Romans 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  7. It just means that your love for anyone and anything else should pale in comparison to your love for God. -----
  8. Parents really need to protect their kids with all of these predators running about. Makes me think of Luke 23:29 - For behold, the days are coming when they will say, "Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed."
  9. I believe Social Security is most definitely a ponzi scheme. When the economy crashes it will become evident that the whole system, including Medicare and Medicaid, is basically one big ponzi scheme. Don't stress about it. When you live in modern-day Babylon it is just par for the course.
  10. Christianity is a religion. There is nothing wrong with religion that saves. It seems that in the 80s, possibly 90s, it became almost a cliche to say that Christianity is not a religion, but is a relationship. I suppose it is a religion that starts with a relationship with Jesus Christ, so maybe that is where it comes from. I like James 1:27: Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
  11. I am sorry to hear of this situation. Beware of pastors who preach that adulterous marriages are God's will. Let the scriptures guide you and not the trends of this wicked and adulterous generation that we live in. 1 Corinthians 7:11.
  12. I am all for making these teams change their names. The redskins.. come on, if you are okay with that you should be ashamed. The term may not have originally been derogatory, but it has since been used in a derogatory manner. Maybe a name like the "hillbillies" would be better for the folks that are okay with this garbage name calling. I mean really it is just referring to people who live in the hills. There are other names I could mention, but I will practice restraint, so as to not be offensive.
  13. We will probably be living under a form of medical martial law thanks to the spreading of Ebola. Deception will abound. With ISIS and Ebola on the scene many a calamity will present itself to scare people into begging for false senses of security that they believe men can provide. I think the NWO will make strong gains in its push towards world unification. Apostasy in America will accelerate at an ever-alarming rate. The goats/sheep will be more clearly distinguished. Many will come to terms that America might just be the modern day Babylon that the Bible speaks so clearly of. Meanwhile, the elect will patiently wait for the return of their Lord knowing full well that they may have to suffer unto death for the sake of his name. Lord come quickly.....
