  1. I honesly cant' answer your question sorry and I need to pray, but I hope that this can help. MATTHEW 6:5 5: And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Pray in private, don't pray to show off, those who pray to show off have their reward. 6: But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. God rewards good works done in secret as only he can see them, good works done with the purpose of having others see are rewarded by praise by men, good works that only God can see are rewarded with heavenly rewrards by God 7: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Asking once is sufficient, vain repetitions not only prove a lack of faith, but that is how it was done with the unjust, as the parable of the persistent widow proves. 8: Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. God knows what you are in need of before you ask, but you must still ask to prove you are trusting in him, remember, "Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not." and sometimes "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." (James 4:2-3) God Bless
  2. @Ezra 1 CORINTHIANS 15:52-53: -52: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. -53: For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 TIMOTHY 6:16: -16: Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. I understand that I am saved from the wrath of God and the penalty of sin, isn't that enough?
  3. Amen brother, it should push the mission to evangelize as many have most likely rejected Christianity because of the teachings of eternal conscious torment, obviously we can't take away truths to please unbelievers, but if a doctrine is not as concrete as it seams, it can be used as a tool for evangelism. @Ezra Saying that we reject the deity of Christ is harsh, what @Hawkeye said is 100% right, this is not a core/salvation issue and it should not divide us. God Bless
  4. Ah this topic, those who saw my post where I introduced myself would know that I hold to Christian Conditionalism, anyway, I have something to share: THE LORD JESUS CHRIST (Mark 9:42-44): -42: And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. -43: And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: -44: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. THE PROPHET ISAIAH (Isaiah 66:23-24): -23: And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. -24: And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
  5. Here in Australia, once you turn 18, voting is mandatory and you get fined if you don't vote, I have to vote in 2 days for that matter with no idea who to vote for, one side will embrace gay marriage while the other side won't care about the middle class. I remember seeing a YouTube video where a pastor suggested every American Christian to write 'Jesus' on the ballot paper and hand it in, while I am not American, that idea would still work for me because when you vote here, you get your name marked off and handed the ballot paper and told to fill it out and put it in the box, no one actually sees what you write and your name is never tied to a ballot paper.
  6. Great post, but it doesn't address 1 John 2:15-17, it's one thing to say that everything is a sin, but it's another thing to say that everything's a sin and use scripture to support that claim, which people do, and that scripture is 1 John 2:15-17. Something else I thought I would share: I wish that picture was smaller, anyway, it's a a billboard from a video game and it is mocking Christianity, but the question must asked, are there Christians who teach almost exactly this? Yes
  7. Hey Brethren, I have a question. I have never this question asked before, I have seen the questions like 'is everything a sin', 'is entertainment a sin' and 'is having fun a sin' but never have I seen the question asked in the context of 1 John 2:15-17. Does 1 John 2:15-17 (the verses about not loving the world and the things of the world) teach that everything that involves fun, pleasure and entertainment is sinful? Obviously there is bad and immoral entertainment out there and the Bible does talk about the pleasures of sin for a season (Hebrews 11:25), but is EVERYTHING that involves fun, pleasure and entertainment is sinful? things like non-hymnal music, hobbies, sports (I'm not a fan there but I know others are), video games, etc. I saw one YouTube video where a Christian named Jefferson Bethke said that God made pleasurable things and they should produce thankfulness and a comment involved quotation of 1 John 2:15 as a rebuttal. Another example from the otherside is from Steven Anderson, the YouTube description (The description was written by a Christian named Matthew Stucky but it was for Steven Anderson's video) of one of his videos against television reads the following: "They will preach against some television shows but shows like the Andy Griffith Show will be praised behind the pulpit. LINE BREAK. 1 John 2:15-16 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. LINE BREAK. The Bible tells us not to love the world. The television and movies are of the world. " To be fair, he went into more detail about why he didn't approve of the show further in the description talking about how the show made a mockery of being a drunk and other things, but I just wanted to give you an idea of how the verses are used. 1 John 2:15-17 is part of the Bible and I'm not going to ignore it, Revelation 22:19 sends a severe warning against adding or taking away from the Bible, but I will be honest, I get nervous when hear the verses quoted because almost everytime I hear them quoted, the person quoting them is saying that EVERYTHING that involves fun, pleasure and entertainment is sinful. I find it interesting that the Love of God is to keep his commandments and his commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3), and the commandments to love God with all my heart, soul and mind and to love my neighbor as myself are anything but burdensome, but the commandment to 'thou shalt not have fun' certainly is burdensome, and it's not that I am not willing to sacrifice pleasurable things for the cause of Christ, I certainly am, but I am burdened by the idea that pleasure on earth is evil within itself. I also keep what I hope is the correct interpretation of 1 John 2:15-17, which is to know that this earth is not our home and to have an focus on the everlasting life to come, to not follow ungodly desires (lusts of the flesh and lusts of the eyes) and not be prideful (ths pride of life). What are your thoughts? God Bless you all.
